Now, if you havent heard
PS2 is now $200
X-Box is now $200
and LameCube is now $150.
What does this mean? It means that any of these systems is now worth buying. PS2 already was, in my opinion, but I got mine a year ago, so I am happy with it.
X-Box needs a few more games to be totally set with me. And LameCube has quite a few good looking titles comiing out.
PS2 Games to Look At:
Tons of driving games, from Pro Race Driver (Touring Car) to Automodelista (Street racin, but totally cell-shaded). Dragonball Z comes out in a few months, as does a Macross game. I am not sure if its Robotech, or under the name Macross, but too is Cell-shaded for that wonderful hand drawn look. The new Dues Ex is out, and the "expansion" to GTA3 is hitting shelves soon. The sequel a few months from now. At least one, if not 3 seperate, LOTR games are planned for PS2. On the top of the list, Medal of Honor: Frontline and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Both we be playable on Sony's net thingie, available for like, $40 in a few months. And dont forget Final Fantasy XI and Everquest: Online Adventures, both MMORPG. Frank;y, PS2 hasnt slowed down with X-Box's release...woo hoo!
X-Box has it share too, thought I am not as familiar with it. A few of the same racing games as I mentioned, only in fatser, better looking X-Box glory. X-Box will also see some LOTR games, and the interesting Battletech/Mechwarrior game. It already has online built in, and the Hard drive, but their network isnt entirely up yet.
LameCube has some stuff, still mostly kid games, with the exception of 5 Resident Evil games, and maybe Mortal Kombat 5. Mario Sunshine and the new Zelda game are in the future...as well as another Sonic game. prettymuch this one is still for kiddies...
I already have a PS2, but the X-Box is looking nice now at 2/3 the price it used to be! The funny thing is that Microsoft was losing money at $300 a pop, and it came out in October. Thats 6 months, and it is already down to $200. Bad for them, good for us. Raven says it will dorp down again when the next generation hits the market. I agree, but the problem is that SOny doesnt have PS3 ready to go until 2005 at the soonest. Microsoft's 2nd console is also in the works, 2005 as well.
So...thats where it is for now. And PSX is down to $50!!!

Bought a PS2 yesterday and hooked it up about 2 hours ago.
Bought EA's NHL2002 (big surprise,eh?) and it's very good. Because of the cost of the games I'll be renting them prior to purchase to get more bang for my buck...

Good call on renting. There are quite a few that are down to $20 now, though. I just reccomend Gran Turismo 3 cause its a game that you'll never get bored with...and for $20, you cant go wrong.
Also, Any Gamestop (in a mall or shopping center) will usually have a selection of used games from $15-$45 depending on the title. You might want to check a few out...

Can you play PS1 games on PS2? If so it may be worth it for me to buy now. I have been buying the EA sports hockey every year Chihawk(including when it was on Sega). For 3 years we had a 4-6 player league, regular seasons and playoffs. I won the Cup two years, once with montreal (Denny Savard Era) and once with the B's (Oates/Neely/Juneau).

You can play PS1 games on PS2, but you'll need to use PS1 memory cards instead of PS2 memory cards.

None, yet. There is Armored Core, but nothing Battletech yet. X-Box has one coming soon...

I have a PS2(PAL) with regioncode 2.
I am still waiting for the release of the PS2 Linux Kit.
In the meantime i use my PS2(PAL) to play games like Armored Core 2, Baldurs Gate, Final Fantasy & X-COM.
I dont understand why someone with a PC should buy a X-Box, sooner or later you will get a good emulator for playing X-Box games on a PC.

Does anyone know if the Gran Turisimo PS2 pack that comes with the PS2 is still around, and if so what does it have? Just Gran Turisimo or does it have 2 controllers to? Is that pack worth the money to get or is it a better deal just to buy the stuff seperatly?
Cuz I finally have enough money to get a PS2 since the price droped, and I've played GT3 and I just want to know what is the better deal.

No, it is not around any longer. And the fact that GT3 is now $20 at most stores makes it cheaper than the pack was. It only came with one controller, still, and no memory card, whish you need.
