==Overview:==
New Samarkand Heavy Industries had built civil transport VTOL´s for almost 5 centuries. So some of their designs were drawn into military service they still had to construct a real military machine! In 3064 New Samarkand Hv. Ind. decided to change that and began work on a heavy assault VTOL.
With the help from some specialists from Luthien Armor Works they constructed it as an Omni-vehicle. 3067 was the year to see their first combat helicopter lifting into the sky!
It was thought of as an direct competitor to the Yellow Jacket Gunship of Michaelson Heavy Industries on Ruchbah and a joke from a tech (" It´s a fly able to saw a mech into pieces!") gave it its name: Sawfly
==Capabilities:==
The test pilots were pleased with the greater speed and armor-protection compared to the Yellow Jacket and even the flight characteristics were as good as that of its rival!
As a direct competitor the Prime configuration carries a Gauß Rifle but most crews dislike it because of the very limited ammo supply. Some crews pointed out that this chopper is able to empty its bin and return home before it is shot to pieces! Their comrades call them cowards so no one tells this opinion in public any more!
The A config is much more popular: It mounts a LB10-X with 20 shots of ammo tied into a TC.
A favored tactic against mechs is to begin the attack with solid granades and TC-support to open up holes in the armor and switch to cluster ammonition while disengaging the TC to pepper it with tiny sub-munitions to deal some serious critical damage!
To give commanders the ability to field a hard-hitting gunship even in times of ammo-shortage the B config was introduced. Armed with 2 large lasers this VTOL has heavy, unlimited firepower but has to get a bit closer to its prey.
The C config is a boon to many unit commanders: it mounts a single ER medium laser and is able to carry up to 15 tons of internal cargo or up to 35 tons of cargo hooked under its belly!
Configuration D is a special shortrange combat VTOL. It mounts 3 Streak-6 with 30 shots of CASEd ammo. This variant is used to hunt vehicles or to mob up damaged enemy mechs behind the front. Duty on that helicopter is very dangerous because it has to get very close to the enemy and a single lucky shot can easily destroy the delicate rotor system!
Configurations E,F and G are longrange support units that mount longrange autocannons, missiles or a TC supported light gaußrifle.
The H config is a sort of multi purpose VTOL. It combines an ER-PPC with 2 Streak-2 launchers.
==Deployment==
The Yellow Jacket is still the premier Gaußrifle carrying VTOL but the Sawfly is bought because of its versatility. The units produced so far were stationed at the DC border with the Ghost Bear Dominion.

The speed is somewhere between Yellow Jacket and Hawk Moth, pod space is sufficient and price seems to be reasonable. When I first read through the date I was thinking about lower speed, but that would limit the number of roles it could perform.
It's quite versatile, but maybe dedicated big gun carrier won't be bad

I had so many ideas about VTOL´s carrying heavy weapons but i didn´t want to construct a bunch of similar choppers. So i made it omni!

...and the result isn't bad!
Maybe something similar to that chap omni tank I made (Yari. I must admit that the configs weren't ideal, but I assume that anyone may install guns as needed)
