==Overview:==
The Marauder was considered one of the most effective BattleMechs ever
produced. Not surprisingly, all the Houses universally welcomed a redesigned
Marauder. As new technologies have become avaliable and as new battlemechs
flood the field, many of the older designs have been phased out or reassigned
to garrison duty due to the older designs becomming inneffective as thier
capabilities become well documented. Though some designs like the Awesome
class still remain viable designs mostly due to the amount of firepower they
can deliver makeing them still hard to bring down. After a significant
technology exchange with House Steiner Davion high command decided it was time
to once again give the Marauder a new lease on battlefield life.


==Capabilities:==
The new Marauder AWSP-77A is a mix of old proven technology and designs that
have proven to be dominant on the battlefield. The first thing to go was the
fragile XL engine. It was replaces with a Light engine giving the mech the
same speed profile and decent weight reduction at a cost in savings. To help
offset the weight of the new engine the designes used Ferro Fibrous through
out the mech standard armor is used to provide 96% armor coverage. Taking a
design feature from both the Awesome and the Clan Marauder IIC, they
redisigned the weapons giving the new Marauder 3 PPC's and 4 Medium lasers.
Due to space considerations 16 double strength freezers help to dissapate the
heat produced by the new weapon set up. Though the mech cannot alpha strike
repetedly it can maintain a withering PPC barrage as it closes with enemy
mechs. Added more as an after thought the new Marauder does boast a Guardian
ECM suite for some added protection.

You can loose JJs to get standard engine, but the mech is quite dangerous and JJs provide extra edge, so it may be left alone. Maybe 4

Yeah I was thinking about the standard engine and loosing the JJ, but then I thought about all the times I just would give up vital body parts for JJ on a design, as a surprise "Hey look I CAN put this hill between us and cool down", or "Cool I can jump behind you and pack your hole! YAY!!" so I decided it was a worth while trade off. I just love the extra mobility they give.

Pack Your Hole... nice turn of phrase. And I also love doing that. A non jumping design... that suddenly jumps in behind your assault and riddles it full of holes.

Brutal. Very brutal.

Agreed that the jump jets give that extra added umph and surprise factor at this weight, but not terribly so givent that the Marauder gained them in 3050. I give it a 4.

The JJs more than compensates for the light fusion engines.
