Has anyone played the Beta? Also does anyone know what the subscription fee will be or even if there will be one?

Hey, kinda like the real AD&D. But it chews through money and resources like nobodys business.

Like when the release a new core set, or add a new set of rules and call it 'Errata'

Much like real D&D, the quality of your experience depends HEAVILY on the people you are with.

Quests are designed to NOT be solo-able, so gathering a party is a must.

As DarkAdder said, the game eats mid-range systems for breakfast. You need a nearly dream-team quality rig to see most of the bells and whistles. Also, a headset with a high-quality mic is high up in the "get it before you play" list: partys have the ability to use in-game voicechat to coordinate their actions (again, the quality of your play experience depends on other people having not-crappy headsets, and not being jerks over the comm).

Sounds like this needs to be a XBox or some other game system that works online.

I broke down and placed my pre-order. I'm playing the Beta now, and I like it. This is the first MMORP I've played. It is not quite D&D 3.5 but it is still pretty good. Leveling is long, but each levl has 5 ranks. Level 2 needs 10K XP, and every 2K XP is a rank. Each rank you get a new Action point, which is used to get an Enchanement. Very cool stuff, My Cleric has gained a bonus +1 to Wisdom, bonus Spell points and a 30% bonus to 1st level Cure spells effectiveness.

Have you played with others yet? How is the gameplay over all? How much gold do you get when you start?

inquiring minds want to know

Well first let me say I only got in two days of the Beta before they shut it down at 1700 on the 19th. BUT IT WAS GREAT!

Secondly, if you want to survive and get through the game you have to form a party. In this regard it is exactly like the classic PnP D&D we all know and love. So to answer you question I played with a lot of people. Usually once you form a party you end up sticking with them for the duration you/they are online, unless you just don't get along.
(I only had that happen once, this one guy got cursed and I bouht him a potion of Remove curse which cost me almost 900GP, on the condition that he would pay me for it upon delivery. Then he couldn't figure out how to do the in game trade Potion for gold, even though I explained it to him a million times in the course of 35 minutes or so, while the rest of the party went on up ahead). I promptly kicked him out of the party for his stupidity when we finished the quest, as he didn't know what he was doing, I had never done it before either until this time and I figured it out in like 2 seconds, and he kept on wanting to give me either 4pp or 840gp but not both like we had agreed)

Third, despite what I just mentioned about this one idiot, people playing this game were pretty good. Everyone worked together very well. There is no PvP AT ALL!!! Nor will there ever be.

Fourth, You get no starting Gold. NOW BEFORE YOU GO SCREAMING AT them for this, listen up. You start out with a full set of gear based upon your class. It is all labled Starter Gear, and you can't sell it. You generate your character's Attributes with the standard 28 point buy system. Before you can really get into the game, it has a tutorial that walks you through everything that you need to do, from combat, to rogue skills, to HealingMagic to Offensive Magic, to Swimming and bashing objects. Ad he best part is you get XP for it all. And there is even a little minny quest you needto do at the very beginning that acquaints you with most of these areas that give you enough XP to gain your First Rank (2,000XP).

Fifth: Leveling is handled different. As of right now, the Level Cap is 10. However each level is broken down into 4 Ranks. Whe nyou reach enough XP for the 5th Rank, you actually gain a Level. With each rank you get to spend an Action point on a enhancement, which is a "unique" class ability.

Sixth: You get no XP for killing monsters. Instead you get XP wen you complete your quest. There is a small exception though to the no XP rule for slaying monsters. Some/Most quests (if not all) have Optional objectives. Some of these Optional Objectives are to kill a specific Named Monster or X number of monsters. Once you complete the optional objective you and the party are rewarded XP. Objectives are updated on your screen as you progress through each quest. If there are a specific number of monsters to kill or prisoners to free or things to destroy/bash it counts down for you.

7th: If you haven't aleady Pre-Ordered the gameand are seriously contemptling playing D&D Online: Stormreach, pre-order the Limited Edition version (if you have a DVD Drive, otherwise pre-order the Standard version). Pre-Ordering gives you access to the Head Start which begins on the 24th and all of your Characters start with a Amulet of +1 AC. If you get the Limited Edition, All of your Characters will also recieve boots that incease your movement. If you play during the head start you can "Reserve" your character's name (if it isn;t already taken, based on his/her First Name), and all of your characters' names will be memorialized in the game, as will any guilds with 25+ members at the end of the head start.

Eight: Unfortunately Turbine's billing servers keep going up and down. So if you do Pre-order, please be patient while trying to redeem your Pre-Order Key at: https://billing.turbine.com Also once you get your Pre-Order Key you may need to wait a little while before it becomes valid. So if you try to redeem it, and it keeps telling you that the key is invalid, keep trying periodically. You will be able to redeem your pre-order key for a few months after the launch.

Well I hope that helps answer some of your questions Icer. So what are you waiting for. Go buy the game and lets form/join the same guilds. Additionally all members of Guilds with 25+ members at the end of the Head Start (28 Feb) will receive another Special in game Item, the Founder's Helm, which will be pretty sweet.
