I like the name it has right now. If you want to give it another name, then I guess you can do that.

What faction is it affiliated with? Shall I use Raven's fluff?

I didn't have a faction in mind, that's why I was having issues with the Fluff...Raven's fluff works and I like it. So sure let's go with that, and if you want toss in a paragraph about a variant or two and we call call it good.
Or offer up some ideas who might use this and what they might call it...

Altered fluff text from Raven!
=== Overview ===
With the power and strength of threats growing in the Inner Sphere, the various Successor States decided that an across the board upgrade was necessary for all aspects of the armed forces. For nearly ten years the BattleMech had received the lion's share of funding for upgrades.
A tenuous peace brought the opportunity for the conventional arms to catch up.
The Lyran Alliance has introduced a very interesting light tank, seen by many to be a prime example of advanced tank engineering, done with reliable technology.
Lyran engineers searched for new vehicle that would move along deployed infantry and provide heavy firepower for removing armored targets.
In search for suitable chassis the engineers looked to old Terran history and found suitable candidate, the PzKFw IV, vehicle that was used by German forces in second world war. In production the designing staff went so far, that they joined forces with National War Museum of Tharkad and produced serviceable copy of old tank for tests and later for WWII exposition.
Although this design doesn't break any new ground in technological breakthroughs, it does make a number of interesting developments for the light tank class.
The tank was named Guderian after the father of famous Blitzkrieg, that brought stunning success to German forces in first years of war, but helped to plunge almost whole Europe in to the darkness.
=== Capabilities ===
Original vehicle seems to be barely capable of movement according to modern standards. Armor, armament and electronics are archaic at best, but there are other problems, like fuel compatibility.
Guderian has only two crewmen, unlike PzKFw IV that was manned by five men, and is armed exclusively energy weapons. Capable of triple speed and with more than double armor Guderian is clearly superior to the original.
Capable of high speed, high damage output, and long life on the battlefield, the Guderian is a stunning combination of fusion engine, weapon, and armor. These three elements have been perfectly balanced to create an amazing combat machine.
The main component of the Guderian is the fusion engine. Redesigned based on captured Clan engines, the new model is slightly more efficient, offering a power increase of about 10.2% over the standard Inner Sphere design, this engine is efficient, with a long life and effective battlefield performance. It produces enough power to run all the major systems of the tank, as well as having plenty of power left over to funnel through the primary weapon.
Further, the engine is 5% more compact. This extra space was used to expand the crew cabin, allowing more room with less chance of hitting an elbow or knee when moving quickly. During trials, test crews also commented that in the event of the tank catching fire, escape was far easier with the wider crew cabin.
The use of advanced armor was a brilliant innovation which increased the armor coverage while reducing weight. Many tank crews, long afraid of some of the heavier arms of infantry, have commented that they feel greatly protected wading through that fire as other tanks fall back.
=== Deployment ===
Currently the Guderian is being deployed along border worlds with the Free Worlds League. Other States are deploying similar weapons technology, especially the Free Worlds League. The Lyran Alliance has decided that they should make a strong showing to discourage any military adventurism.

Both vehicles are pretty slow and have similar armament. I simply tried to make the most accurate copy of PzKFw IV Ausf D according to statistics.

And mine wasn't? I wasn't going for direct conversion, I was going for something similar...

If I read the Ausfwagen SKZ-171 topic correctly than it's PzKFw V

That's true, but that's why I don't understand naming it Armored Fighting Vehicle model IV type D (loose translation of PzKFw IV Ausf D, not too Battletech-like name Unless there is a power in IS (or periphery) that uses old German designations) when there is a vehicle with the same name, err... type already. It may be confusing and playing WWII tech campaign with something like your laser tank doesn't look like good idea to me, unless you allow each side some secret weapons

What are you talking about?
The name doesn't matter. If they did then we would not see the same names used over and over...
If you look at the BT history of the vehicle you will see that a lot of them get their names from older vehicles...same thing was done here.

Also, when I stated if you didn't like the name that I chose to go with then rename it, I didnt say remake the tank to HOW you wanted it. I said rename it if you wanted to use it.

Right!
Maybe they will have some problems with selling a tank with an odd name (for customers not speeking german) but if a company decides to name one of its tanks after an old german Panzer nobody can tell them not to do, in particular if the company/designer is of german heritage!
And you´ll have the fun to construct the Panzer I to III!
And regarding Ausf. D maybe Ausf. A to C were prototypes not worth of production!

If you read the altered version of raven's fluff than you would notice that I already used different name for your tank and the vehicle I presented is just what I think that original WWII tank would look like, not that I want you to change your tank.
I just presented it as proposal, if you don't like it, than there is no problem in deleting it. Just ask. (actually the same thing applies to other posts of mine, if anyone feels offended by something that I wrote, than I may delete it).
