A high tech PzKpfw IV but not too costly!
The large laser is a potent mainweapon able to do some serious damage for a 20t tank!
The small laser can easily be replaced by a ER version!
(A small pulse will resemble a MG for anti infantry fire but will cost you 0,5t of armor)

=== Overview ===
With the power and strength of threats growing in the Inner Sphere, the various Successor States decided that an across the board upgrade was necessary for all aspects of the armed forces. For nearly ten years the BattleMech had recieved the lion's share of funding for upgrades.

A tenuous peace brought the oppertunity for the conventional arms to catch up.

The Lyran Alliance has introduced a very interesting light tank, seen by many to be a prime example of advanced tank engineering, done with reliable technology.

Although this design doesn't break any new ground in technological breakthroughs, it does make a number of interesting developments for the light tank class.

=== Capabilities ===
Capable of high speed, high damage output, and long life on the battlefield, the PzKFw IV Ausf D is a stunning combination of fusion engine, weapon, and armor. These three elements have been perfectly balanced to create an ammazing combat machine.

The main component of the PzKFw IV Ausf D is the fusion engine. Redesigned based on captured Clan engines, the new model is slightly more efficient, offering a power increase of about 10.2% over the standard Inner Sphere design, this engine is efficient, with a long life and effective battlefield performance. It produces enough power to run all the major systems of the tank, as well as having plenty of power left over to funnel through the primary weapon.

Further, the engine is 5% more compact. This extra space was used to expand the crew cabin, allowing more room with less chance of hitting an elbow or knee when moving quickly. During trials, test crews also commented that in the event of the tank catching fire, escape was far easier with the wider crew cabin.

The use of advanced armor was a brilliant inovation which increased the armor coverage while reducing weight. Many tank crews, long afraid of some of the heavier arms of infantry, have commented that they feel greatly protected wading through that fire as other tanks fall back.

=== Deployment ===
Currently the PzKFw IV Ausf D is being deployed along border worlds with the Free Worlds League. Other States are deploying similiar weapons technology, especially the Free Worlds League. The Lyran Alliance has decided that they should make a strong showing to discourage any military adventurism.

I like.. Nice fluff too..
It's simple, it's relatively inexpensive and i think it can kill a stinger or wasp..

I really really lke this.

Having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing an SRM version as well. Lots of hovertanks that could take a direct Large Laser hit will be a lot more scared of SRMs.

Most hovers won't have problems with sending few SRMs back to you or staying out of range.

I wouldn't give it the name (aehm) of WWII tank, but the vehicle looks really nice.

Maybe take the short term "Panzer IV".
But you have to construct the Panzer I to III in this tech!

btw: PzKpfw means Panzerkampfwagen (Armored Combat Car)

Yes, I know, but still these two vehicles don't have much in common with each other (except weight, name and purpose of course)

How so? The WW2 one had a 50mm gun mid range weapon, the one I made has Large Laser mid range weapon compare to some of the ones it could have gone with...

Speed and armor are compariable taking into account tech differences and time frames.

The Panzer III had a 50 mm gun.
The Panzer IV started with a snub nosed 75 mm till Ausf. F1 and later (F2,G,H,J ) had a 75 mm longbarrel gun able to fire armorpiercing rounds.
(Yes! I´ve some literature about WW II tanks, ships and aircrafts!)

Two books I have on the PzIV mention that it started out with a 50mm, same as the PzIII, and then went to the 75mm for production.

Either way the Large Laser can fit the role for the main gun since it is a mid range weapon, by that I mean decent range for the damage.

The Pz III was the "anti tank tank" and the Pz IV the "heavy infantry support tank" firing his snub nosed 75 mm with HE shells.
It never carried a gun smaller than 75 mm.
Later it was equiped with a longbarrel 75 mm to fire armorpiercing rounds to become the standard "main battle tank"
My book lists all german tanks from 1929 to 1945 with all versions, tankhunters , selfpropelled guns etc. and with technical data for all variants.
The Pz III started with a 37 mm gun that was changed against a 50 mm at 1940/41.
A single variant carried the same snub nosed 75 mm like the Pz IV.
All production models of the Pz IV had a 75 mm cannon. Maybe a prototyp had a 50 mm but I don´t think so.

I too think the large laser is the best weapon here because AC´s are too heavy for a tank as light as this.

Those tech differences are the reason why I wouldn't call it PzKpfw IV, or at least different variant than D. Mentioning that it is loosely based on that tank is okay, but it isn't the same tank. And to the armament my material always show 75 mm gun on PzKpfw IV and D has two MGs.
