You know me and guns, I am all for debate over which ones are better. So lets take a train to Tombstone and the days of Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson, and Jesse James. Its time to talk about the best revolver of the old west.
We all know about the famous Colt Single Action Army. Commonly known as the Peacemaker, the Colt SAA was durable, balanced, sharp looking, and fired a powerfull .45 Long Colt slug. I know all you gunslingers out there will like this one, but let me move onto the other two contenders for the best six shooter.
It may be less well known, but it was still a reliable firearm. The Smith and Wesson M1869 Single Action was also powerful and balanced, but it was bulkier and heavier than the Colt. It however, fired a more powerful .44-40 shell that delivered slightly more power than a .45 LC. It was the favored weapon of Frank James.
The Remington Outlaw Single Action revolver was a mighty weapon. It was the bulkiest and heavyest of the three, but this was countered by less recoil and a slightly sturdier design schematic. It too fired a .44-40 round, but could be chambered for anything from .32-20 to .45 LC.

I like all three, but the best pick is the Remmington IMO. Its supposed to be well-balanced and have a little less recoil, but the ability to chamber different types of rounds is kinda neat, easier to find ammo if you're short. I'd personally use the .45 LC unless it was out.
It also has the best look out of the three IMO. It would look better with a black grip, though.

I also like the Remington, not only for the fact that the cylinder can be swapped out easily and quickly, but also because I think its sharp looking.

It's not swapping the cylinder, its the barrel. They made Remingtons in various calibers where I think the Colt was only sold in .45 long colt.
I have a Remington Outlaw repro in .357 magnum. Now this is one where you can use more then one ammo type. A .357 is just a longer .38 special cartridge case. So if it can shoot .357 you can shoot the less expensive .38 special and have very little felt recoil too.
I wouldn't mind a colt, but my decision in caliber choice was based on cost. Last time I checked I could get .357 and .39 special for 10-12 bucks a box, while .45 lc was 20 and 44-40 was about about 40 bucks for 50 rounds.
And yeah, that single action just feels better then some BB shooting 9 mm blastomatic pistol. And it means you can have fun at the range for the same amount of time, but expend a lot less ammo since you are shooting and reloading slower, and thus your fun costs less money.
Oh yeah, and with that extra metal under to strengthen the barrel on the Remington, having that extra bit of weight on the barrel means it will have less rise of recoil when you fire and thus you can get back on target faster.
And if I ever had to whack somebody upside the head with it, I bet I could do that with a Remington without screwing up the barrel, where I would not want to try it with a Colt.
Whether it is a slower draw depends on the barrel length. I like a long barrel, 7 inches or so, so no fast draw for me. But you can get a Remington with the same barrel length as any Colt. such were popular for policemen back then. I think the Pinkertons carried Remingtons too.
