Again, as I already said to Talen a system does NOT have to be in a turn to become unstable. A mutlitude of systems become unstable just due to shear speed.

And I want to know what one of those is! If I go place a F-1 car belt in a wind tunnel, and de-limit the engine, letting it runs at its ABSOLUTE maximum, the car would rip apart from sheer speed....it would not lose stability....a car loses stability when the tires stop getting traction due to major factors, one of them being too much air underneath the car, and not enough weight to keep the car down. A 'mech was 30,000lbs...its NOT going to have a problem staying stuck to the ground. If it is going to lose stability due to speed, put some flipped wings on the top...the faster it gets the more force will be pushing down, keeping the 'mech firmly planted to the ground.

Why not?

If there can be 100 ton bi-ped machines doing half the crap they're supposed to do I don't see anything in this game as being unbelievable

And I want to know what one of those is!

I've already given you several examples: the train, motorcycle, trailer, AND car. Do you want me to email you the simplified equations of motion?

I guess you guys all think that aerospace fighters should be ornithopters as well, since you refuse to acknowledge that limb-based motion might have *gasp* limits.

I never said there wasn't limits. I just happen to think that the limits on what the limbs can do are already in place.

And why would aerospace fighters be like birds? I fail to see any connection (other than they both fly of course)

So far you have indicated that no limits are in place. As far as your arguments are concerned if a light can go mach2 then it should be allowed.

Why not have them fly like birds? You guys have repeatedly said that everything big and mechanical should work proportionally well to their smaller organic counter-parts, if not better.

Mechs are limited to as fast as their engines will move them. I have not yet an arguement that even comes close in proving there's any reason to lower their speed though modifiers or "rules".

Be careful there, you may want to reread what I've posted before you include me in "you guys".

Well, actually the scale is way off. If a 2 meter tall man weighs 80 kilos then it would follow that a 10 meter tall man would weigh 400 kilos, and that's not what we are talking about at all. A Wasp would weight, what? 20,000 kilos?

On the organic thing, every wonder why aren't elephants faster? Well, first things first, they're faster than you probably give them credit for. Yes, they look slow and ponderous, but I guarantee you can't outrun one. Granted, that elephants don't run, they amble, since all of their feet aren't off the ground. The reason being is a failure of the materials. The elephant isn't constructed of materials strong enough to allow it to withstand the dynamic forces of running. The fantasy materials that allow the mech to exist in the first place (myomers!) allow it to exceed your perceived limitations. Maybe that mech will be able to go Mach 2, or even 3.

Once upon a time it was impossible for man to fly, or break the speed of sound, or orbit the earth, or go to the moon.

That's not what I'm talking about either. I was talking about structures of simliar proportion acting similarly even though their absolute scales are quite different.

First off, myomer isn't such a fantasy material. Just ask Ruger or Vampire. And maybe they won't exceed my perceived limitations.

. . . on back of an ornithopter weilding a laser sword. At this point I have stopped taking this discussion seriously.

It's still impossible to go swimming in lava, build a tower to the sun, or divide by zero.

Uh, no their not. Supercharges anyone? This is an L3 rule for an L3 problem.

So we're back to it being opinion. OK.

Last I checked superchargers are part of the engine, just purchased seperately.

You're staring to grasp at straws here Gg...

Well, this conversation has been fun, pointless, but fun. But I really have to get back to work on my sun tower now.
