In keeping with the personality of the Rifleman: I voted the Zeus. Because it looks so awesome!
The Victor is too specialised. You have something similar on your hands when you take a Hunchback.
The Goliath.... well it has novelty factor. But it really is woefully undergunned.
The Charger. Yeah right. See the Goliath, and multiply that by 2.
The Awesome. Well, really, one of the best assault 'mechs out there! PPCs only have a minimum range of 3. I wouldn't call it defenseless at close ranges! The closer the enemy is, the less you move (especially if you loose ini) - the heaviest back armour in the whole TRO goes a long way.....
So why did I vote the Zeus? It really is undergunned, too. And it lacks armour as much as the Victor. But it is the most versatile of the lot (in terms of load-out), doesn't have heat troubles (which should not really be a criteria for such a large 'mech in 3025, but it's a nice bonus), has good range, decent speed. I don't know, a good allrounder? And it looks soooo awesome! Yes, the ZEUS, not the Awesome.... You know what I mean. And I was *not* trying to be funny, honestly.

Awesome. I love how it looks, and I love the amount of damage it inflicts. It's a huge problem on any battlefield, even well in to 3067.
The others don't impress me as much, and IMHO it looks better than the Zeus, so there. =)

Even then you're allowed to vote Awesome. I like it because it's simple to use, a design with a clear focus. You know where you want to be when your primary weaponry is three PPCs.

The Awesome's got a very nice heat profile as well; it can actually use those PPCs.

| Will, omitting the original 5 Small laser standard, the charger is actually a pretty decent mech in its other variations. Specificly the quad large laser version and the ac20 variant. Those 2 are mean. And then there's the jumpy variant too which can be interesting to use.

Awesome, every time. What more needs to be said other than the name? It's also one of the few 3025 'Mechs which perfectly agrees with me; most of the others need a little tweak here and there.

Awesome is the best there, It was the first assault mech i ever played and it decked my Grasshopper and Enforcer rather quickly, i came to respect it pretty quickly and since then i have picked it over any other in the 3025 era.
The Charger has some great variants. I look upon the 4 Large laser version as a mini supernova of the 3025 era. The jump variant is great as well.
A real reason why the chargers do so well is exactly how most of you reacted. See it on the battlefield, and laugh. 5 small lasers are poor. So when it closes and pumps an AC20 round into your hide, you can bet the enemy is shocked! Its reputation really works for it.

4)Goliath (side step is very useful and it ca still tackle a Banshee!
5)Victor (definately not a bad mech. Just one i tend not to use.

There is one thing I have to point out about the Charger:
The ONLY variant that is used in the era up to 3025, that could be represented by the standard model, is the variant that has very little armour, 1LL and 2ML - hardly very useful....
The AC20 variant was introduced in the BP: 4th Succession war. If you use that one, I'd say you'd have to show the good form and use its specific model, which is in fact the standard model these days.
The 4/6/4 LRM20 variant is a Kurita variant: It was developed just before the war of 3039! It led to the Hatamoto-Chi and also culminated in the 2050 variant of the Charger. So, it is an after-3025 design.
The 4LL variant is unique! It is actually called the Challenger. It was published in an early issue of Battletechnology. Yes, here we actually have an example of a 'mech from that magazine making it into the Record Sheets!!! I don't have it with me right now, to look up the exact story, but I remember that it was a refit by an extremely skilled tech of a merc command. They were in the employ of the FedSuns against Liao, and captured two Chargers. They, for some reason or another, had heaps of spare parts for Riflemen. So, they used the 240 Engine, and the LL to make one of the two Chargers fearsome. Both were used for garrison duty. When they were attacked by a light company, the Challenger blasted away, while the Charger rushed the lighter 'mechs.
You have to be careful with the RECORD SHEETS for 3025: Quite a handful of 'mechs included are either unique or prototype designs.
It may actually be useful to post a list! A few that I can think of right now:
Unique: Challenger, Hunchback with 2 SRM6, one of the two Victors with the anti-infantry weaponry (though this could also be a rare factory-variant, it wasn't quite clear)
Prototype: AC2 Dragon, Orion-V.
Are there others? The Hermes III and the Trebuchet K are refits described in Sorenson's Sabres - the Hermes III is a product of the Ostmann works, the Trebuchet is a standard Kurita refit found in the Sword of Light regiments.
