Has anyone here been able to get this game working with XP if so how? I think this was the best Mechwarrior game of the licence. I have an old pc setup to run my old dos based games but it is a pain to have to keep getting it out of the loft.

Mercs usually works perfectly for me in Win XP, actually. I think it needed a few patches, but I still play it a lot. I would rather get MW2: GBL working though.
Try running it in Win 95 Compatibility Mode...

Where does one find this Win95 compatibility mode? Playing Mech2 Mercs on an XP machine would be great; I miss it.

Never mind. Found it. Now I just have to find the CD. I remember when I first installed Mech2 Mercs, 50 megs seemed really big. Now Mech4 Mercs is 1000+ megs, and that's not all that big at all. Weird how things change.

I tried all the compatibility modes and still no joy. I shall try to find some downloads for the patches and see if that helps. What about MW4 mercs did anyone think this was beter than MW" mercs. Although graphics were obviously much better I still think gameplay was streets ahead of MW4 mercs.

I haven't even checked out MW4 yet... MW2:Mercs was certainly a good game when it came out. The stupid lancemates were irritating at times, but the rest was fine. Technology reaching the market, many fine mechs to use and salvage.
