Ahhh, well then, a suggestion.
Take their "super munchy" units and put them in a situation where they don't work.
Like the mech with 3 Gauss Rifles and no lasers having to fight under water...or the laser boats facing reflective armor, etc...
My fav is the 12 hex 45CF bridge over a level (-15) chasm...
Lots of stuff you can do to make them see the error of their ways

The B&G's Defenses are up and Running to spec. The Attacking systems are up and running as well.....
Keep an eye on those weapons Joe, you never know when who /what may occur....

The Major bows quickly and runs toward the 'Mech Bay. Quickly running down the row of 'Mechs, past a Warhammer, a Banshee, a Dervish...a very...odd...BattleMaster...he finally comes to his specialized Wolfhound, painted very intricately to resemble a large fox.
He climbs quickly up the ladder and changes into the cooling suit from the locker. Pulling down his combat neruohelmet, he straps himself into the aged, but still functional machine. He hits the ignition.
"Metal Fox online," spoke a flat, emotionless male voice, "identify pilot."
"Joseph Garbo."
"Harewood's Harvesters pilot confirmed. Speak pass phrase now."
"Nobody here but us trees."
"Code confirmed. Metal Fox power online, weapons online, awaiting command."
"Initiate Stealthy Fox settings, optimize for Urban Recon."
"Confirmed, sensors adjusted, active countermeasures adjusted, ECM reset, engine power adjusted. Metal Fox is ready to stalk it's prey."
The Major quickly grabbed the joysticks and worked the Wolfhound out of the 'Mech Bay in record time, quickly moving his Wolfhoud out into the city, actively seeking the suspected attack force.

The Major's sensor screen blips at the most extreme range of his sensors. "Sir, I've got something here. It's probably just a sensor echo off something reflective. I've modified this 'Mech's range, but the sensors are still stock... I'm going to check it out."
The Major alters the heat shunting and power output of his machine, making as hard to detect as possible, but still be mobile. He also, on a gut feeling, arms the ancient countermeasures he has built into the Metal Fox.

Stinger has been sitting quitely at the bar eating lunch and drinking coke. He remembers the last time someone said the word and the ensuing hell. He also remembers the outcome. He quietely gets up and checks the message boards looking for anytype of useful info. Not finding any he pays the bill and heads to the tarmac. As he leaves the bar he is on his cell getting his troops prepared for the comming onslaught.
