I was bored and decided to make a mech that is good for enforcing martial law. It is an armless, Lvl 3 mech, that is designed for a police force, not military. The fluff is bad (IMO), but at least I added some this time.

Suggested uses: Not very good for BTech games, unless you are training a newbie how to play. In that case it is best for either teaching how to defend your mech, or for battling against elementals. With the fluff this mech would be better for a Mechwarrior RPG game, with a Police Officer & Mechwarrior trained character.

----------------------------------------------
MLM-00 Martial Law Mech (Lvl 3, Armless)

Chassis: Earthwerk CTF
Power Plant: Standard 75
Cruising Speed: 53.75
Maximum Speed: 86
Jump Jets: Smithson Lifters
Jump Capacity: 150 meters
Armor: Durallex Light with CASE
Armament:
2 SperryBrowning Machine Guns
Manufacturer: Robinson Standard BattleWorks
Primary Factory: Robinson
Communications System: Ranger LAF Model 2
Targeting and Tracking System: Dynatec 2180 with Short-Range Targeting

Overview:
Early on in the fighting for the Chaos March planets, there were
many problems with people disobeying the martial law that had been
declared on many planets. There had also been incidents of car bombs
that a mech could easily have dealt with, if any were available. To
fix these problems one planet asked around for a light mech that
could be used to deal with enforcing martial law. The design they
chose was one offered up by Robinson Standard BattleWorks. [HARD
RETURN]The winning design was light, cheap, fast for a city fighter,
had light weapons that would work to scare anyone crazy enough to
defy the police, and best of all, it could jump. This provided it
with mobility that was nearly required for city fights. The only only
downside was its lack of arms, which could be used to move possible
car bombs. This attribute was considered perfectly fine, as many car
bombs were movement sensitive anyway.

Capabilities:
Compared to a military mech, the MLM-00 Martial Law Mech is slow,
under-gunned, and poorly armored. For a police vehicle it is a marvel
of technology, since few police can afford a mech. This design is
cheap enough that many planetary governments have actually foot the
bill for at least one or two, which are placed in the capital city.
The armor is maxed-out on the mech, but is still too low to handle a
real fight. There is a reason that the armor is so high on this mech
though, it is more cost efficient. That is how the police see it.
Since the armor his enough to protect against anything that a
civilian can toss at it, it keeps the mech alive, thus saving the
police money.
Jump jets provide the mech with the ability to move without
having to follow the street layout of a city. This means that the
mech can reach a disturbance faster then normal. The machine guns
serve to scare people more then to shoot them. The police prefere to
not shoot the people they protect, and even if they could care less
their chief tries to stop them, just to save ammo. The CASE system
ensures that the mech will still be functional if the ammo is somehow
destroyed (as the occasional Molotov Cocktail has succeed in
accomplishing). A secondary weapons system was installed in the
external speaker system. It was designed to create either a
high-frequency screech to paralyze people, or low-frequency pulses
that induce nausea in large mobs.
The hardpoints on the mech were designed to be semi-modular. They
use a system that allows new weapons, produced only by Robinson
Standard BattleWorks, to be "plugged" in to a set of connection
ports. This cuts installation time down by about half.

Deployment:
This design is scattered throughout the Chaos March and has been
seen on many Federated Suns' planets during the civil war. There are
no know plans to sell the mech to other houses.

Known Variants:
There are a few know variants to the mech. The MLM-01 replaces a
machine gun and an ammo bin with two grenade launchers, with smoke
rounds. This is designed to break up occasional roits. Another
design, the MLM-02, puts a flamer in the hardpoint for either machine
gun, and its ammo. This design is meant to flush out guerilla units
who hide in the forests of some planets. The last factory-produced
version is the MLM-03, which mounts either one or two small pulse
lasers. This variant is produced only when someone orders it, though
there are aways two extras in a warehouse, just in case a large order
of them is placed.

well it depends of just how organized the roit is if it's well though out and designed to drop the mech than it doesn't stand much of a chance, a very well organized group will plant timed/remote explosive on the joints from behind and BOOM! expensive fireworks. The other probly is that mechs are not practical weapons in an urban setting a rioter could fire on it from atop a tall building wich there would be no shortage of on planets that can afford to use a mech in such a way.

I do not think that anything short of a full clan assault binary would work on Solaris VII.

>>well it depends of just how organized the roit is>>

Organized and riot. Two words that generally do not mix. Except on bigger planets. And even the biggest riots begin to break apart with the threat of something that big about to walk straight through them. Besides, no one wants to be shot with a mech-class machine gun.

>>if it's well though out and designed to drop the mech than it doesn't stand much of a chance, a very well organized group will plant timed/remote explosive on the joints from behind and BOOM! expensive fireworks. >>

You must remember though, most civilians do not have access to such large amounts of explosives. Even the weakest part of a mech is armored against the average person's ability to attack it.

>>The other probly is that mechs are not practical weapons in an urban setting a rioter could fire on it from atop a tall building wich there would be no shortage of on planets that can afford to use a mech in such a way.>>

The average roiter is going to be on the ground, not sniping at a mech. If they are sniping then they are not rioters. It would probably take an armor-piercing round fired from a military rifle just to breach a mech's armor. Those two things are not likely to be easy to get a hold of on a world in the Chaos March (especially during martial law).
