==Overview:==
Designed for 1 pourpose, to test the newly design Federated Sun Guass
Artillery peice.
==Capabilities:==
The focus of the design is the Artillery Guass, which uses a long bar
to fire a round twice the weight of a standard guass shell extreme distance
These rounds unlike conventional guass rounds are not solid metal, instead
carry explosives so when the round reaches its target it can shower the are
with damaging projectiles.
Thou weighing as much and doing equal damage to a Sniper Artillery,
Guass peice takes up considerably less room. The back draw is limited ammo
vulnerability to damage. Like all guass when hit, it explodes with tremedou
force. In addition to this, its ammo is also vulnerable to explosion.
Over all its a grand idea, but it may just be a costly dream.

But a gauss is a direct fire weapon...the way it works makes it so. It would only be as good as LOS...right?

Artillary Guass:
Explodes when hit for 25 damage.
Can be tied into Target Comp.
Ammo explodes.
damage is 10/5. [maybe 10/10]

In an Issue of Future Wars magazine they had a home tech ammo for the Gauss it was called VHE (Very High Expolsive) had a splash damage effect that would carry over to each corrasponding loction on the mech or vehicle...sounds like some that would work well with your Gauss Artillery weapon...seeing how the ammo would go boom if hit...

but wouldn't you still need line of sight? I mean it flies staight out and hits whats in its path unlike missles that kinda just go over stuff.

Normal artillery fires up and over things as well as directly at things...the idea is plunging the fire on to the target...elavation of the weapon up and down adds or takes away from the range...too much elavation and the round comes right back down on your head...too little and you actually watch it hit the ground in front of you...you want some where in the middle with prefecence of it being far away when it hit something else...

Hence the name "artillery", which does not need LOS but isn't a highly accurate weapon.
Its looks pretty good, Vagabond. The only thing questionable is that you tie it to a TC. I think TC's are strictly for direct fire weapons, so an artillery piece would not gain any bonuses from being attached to one.

In Traveller: Striker a gauss rifle/cannon was a direct fire weapon, a MD or Mass Driver was the field artillery equivalent using the same principle.
A magnetic case carrying what ever munitions payload would be lobbed in a ballistic trajectory, and followed standard artillery rules. they just had a bigger bang than regular artillery due to carrying a larger payload in the same size shell. (no casing to resist the push/ concussion of propellant)
