You know how hidden units ignore movement modifiers when firing from ambush? Or how you happen to land on a minefield now and then?

That's why the bloodhound is a great choice! With a range of 8, it greatly reduces the risk of landing next to or on top of a hidden unit. Sure, it requires moving in a slightly different pattern than just straight-ahead (backwards, diagonal, etc).

I do really like it!
