This years A-Kon was great. The hotel was redesigned from the years before. And the new design was much bigger and better.
The dealers rooms (That's right, I said rooms. Since there was two of them) Had some good deals. I scored all the Gundum models form less than $15.00 and a friend got all the Veritech toys for under $75.00. I also got so good mini to. A Wraith,A Jenner IIC,And a Cauldron Born and some hex bases for under $15.
The vidoe rooms had pretty much the same as the year before. But with the new DVD players and cinema size screens. It made them seem like new. And well worth watching
The Battletech rooms (YEA!! This year they had two of them) had some excellent games. The Mechwarrior Guild should be complamented. They did a excellent job.
Yours truly won two best player pins. One for the 3027 Slugfest. When I used a Marauder to tie up the other sides mechs in the center of the battlefeild while my Jenner and the rest of the force picked away at the rest of the field. Which was not enough to win a pin. But when I shot my Marauder that was already badly damaged. To core the engine and rolled a 8 to blow it up. Dishing out and downing 4 enemy mechs. Then used the Jenner and another player used his Flashman to finish off the last of the bad guys.
and another the 3035 The Dragon's Fist game. When I again used a Jenner to forced a enemy Stinger with a large laser into shooting range of the rest of my force. To take him down and killing the commander.
The Mechwarrior Dark Age was there to try and sell us on the click tech idea. I voiced my opinion about hateing the non-custom mechs and the whole collector idea of it. Their response was less then encourgeing when they said "Although you can not customize your mechs, You can customize your unit" (Big whoop. I do that now with mechs that I have.) "The collector is supposed to be fun, You can trade with friends to get the mech you want" (That Idea did not work with magic cards because nobody wants to give up a rare card) But they did address my concerns. But their answers just where not good enough to change my opinion. Clicky-Tech still sucks.
From a security stand point, It was a busy weekend. On my shift I had 1 assult, 5 open containers, 16 under age drinking, 18 open weapons, and a record 37 noise calls. But when the attendance was around 6,500. It was to be expected.
I just woke up. The whole weekend I only got 4 hours of sleep in total. but it was a great con. Just sorry none of you guys were there. But I was asked to work secuity at Animefest and GenCon. Don't think I can make the GenCon. But Animefest is going to be held 3 miles from my apartment. So I am going to that one.
I am going back to bed now. "Since I was just informed that my department at my job was just axed." So I am now jobless. But no biggie. I never liked that job anyway.
