GSS SERKET

==Overview==
In 3053, Khan Ariel Suvorov of Clan Goliath Scorpion began instituting a series of reforms aimed at increasing the strength and overall effectiveness of her Clan's Touman. Part of those reforms called for a reorganization of the fighting arm of the Clan and the formation of a new Cluster-level command keshik: the Knife Dance Keshik.

Under the new Scorpion organization, each Cluster would require six docking collars to transport; while sufficient Voyager-class JumpShips were available, Khan Suvorov intended for the Clan's Flagship (the Sovetskii Soyuz-class Heavy Cruiser Serket) to serve as the transport for her Knife Dance Keshik. Meeting with the Khans of Clan Snow Raven in 3054, Suvorov managed to hammer out a deal to overhaul and refit Serket in the Raven yards at Lum, although this cost Clan Goliath Scorpion all of the remaining WarShips in their Naval Cache at Dagda, as well as half of their enclave on the world of Marshall.

By 3058, the refit of the ancient vessel was complete Impressed by the work done by the Ravens, Khan Suvorov sought closer ties to that Clan; however, Raven concerns over the expansion of the Scorpion Touman and increasing aggressiveness of this once passive Clan kept them at arm's length.

==Capabilities==
Although the original concept of Serket's refit was simply the adding of a sixth docking collar, the Raven engineers soon enough proposed (and Khan Suvorov accepted) a number of additional upgrades.

Fuel bunkerage was increased by a factor of ten, giving Serket the ability to thrust for up to one standard year before depleting her reserves. Existing cargo space was used to expand the limited spare parts holds by a factor of five, and an HPG communication center was added to the ship.

At a suggestion from saKhan Nelson Elam, the Ravens added a Command and Control Center to coordinate all elements of hte Clan. Massing more than four thousand tons and crewed by one hundred Warriors and civilians, this command center serves as the mobile headquarters of the Scorpion Touman. Personnel quarters were added with capacity for more than two hundred passengers and dedicated quarters were installed for all bay personnel.

Having been given carte blanche in the upgrade, the Raven engineers decided to restore the WarShip's armor protection to the levels SLDF engineers originally intended; they boosted protection to more than nine hundred tons of ferro-carbide armor plating.

But the largest change came in the weapon systems. The Ravens added two quad pulse laser turrets to each firing arc, one large and one medium. Serving as anti-aerospace fighter/DropShip guns, these weapons added a needed layer of protection against lighter opponents. Six Barracuda launchers were added, doubling the existing launchers on the fore and aft-quarters of the ship with the last two being mounted astern, providing still more AAA firepower.

Taking a page from the original specifications of the design, the Ravens increased the triple NL-45 mounts to octuple batteries, and then added a third such battery firing to the stern, restoring the design to her originally intended two dozen Naval Lasers.

To deal with the additional heat generated, the power generation and cooling systems were rebuilt, with nearly 960 tons added.

These modifications resulted in a smaller amount of internal cargo space, but the modified Serket still has the capacity for more than 125,000 tons of cargo, plus 41,500 tons of spare parts and 14,425 tons of fuel.

Her refit completed in 3058, Serket rejoined the Scorpion Fleet as the Khan's Flagship where she has served since.
