Also a personal custom.
Coincidentally enough, the faction that the pilot works for actually has a factory that produces 240XL engines (it's for their rendition of the Sparrowhawk) and so the custom would simply be a matter of the pilot "appropriating" one for the mech.
And then so long as the internals were being reworked to fit the XL, she could have easily gotten the ammo feeds redone so that she only needed to have CASE in a single torso, clearing room in the opposite torso for a DHS. The Ferro was just the icing on the cake.
Of note is that even after everything - including boosting the armor by a fair amount - I still had just enough tonnage and internal space for an LRM 5 (boosting the long-range firepower) and a small laser (another weapon for point defense).
