==Overview:==
When the AFNN was seeking support in the days immediately following its hav
become public, they followed a strategy that could best be described as "Pe
Through Superior Everything" (a term that was, it is rumored, briefly used
the AFNN high command itself). If you wished to ally yourself to their caus
then you could expect to be richly rewarded by way of them sharing their
superior knowledge in regards to design and engineering. If you chose merel
to sign a non-aggression pact, then you were still rewarded, albeit with a
series of reciprocal trade agreements. If you chose to make an enemy of the
you were introduced to the hard realities of why the nation had never lost
major engagement in its existence.

During the initial repulsion of Blakist forces from the planet, the AFNN
uncovered very early specifications for a mech tentatively named the
"Inquisitor" (in that it was at the top of a list of about a dozen names).
plan for the mech was that it would be a light-weight fire support platform
that could supplement, if not replace, mechs like the venerable but aging
Thorn. However, the Blakist designers had obviously consigned the machine t
the recycle bin by the time the AFNN forces arrived; although the math and
numbers were sound, a series of simulations had indicated that the mech had
numerous structural issues due to the unique way the reverse-oriented legs
were designed (specifically, the extra forward-oriented joint in the middle
the shin on each leg; it gave the mech an edge in physical flexibility, but
was burdensome on uneven terrain). Furthermore, even if the issues with the
legs could be fixed, the mech was still too under-gunned for any sort of
direct confrontation but lacked the sort of point defenses that would be
needed if the mech was to be a mobile weapons turret; it would be a sitting
duck against battle armor.

The AFNN engineers resolved the matter of the legs in a mere six weeks, but
after trial and error realized that the only way to get everything that was
called for on such a light chassis was with Clan technology. To this end,
tentative specifications were drawn up and sent with the AFNN envoys to Cla
Wolf-In-Exile. The design was a bit of a tough sell, but Wolf-in-Exile
ultimately accepted the design as the gift it was and eventually began
field-testing actual machines.

==Capabilities:==
The focal point of the mech is the arm-mounted ER PPC, selected for both it
range and its not relying on ammunition. This permits the mech to operate i
the field for an extended period of time. Furthermore, since the arm can
rotate to fire behind the mech, it gives the design a potent weapon to ward
off would-be pursuers.

The original design simply called for the two ER Medium Lasers in the left
torso and the SRM 2 in the center torso. At one point, this would have been
sufficient if the mech's purpose was simply to sit and snipe; any light
vehicles or light mechs that got close would easily be stung by such
firepower. But due to the advances in warfare since then, even this would n
be enough to preserve the machine.

To help keep the mech from detection, an ECM suite was installed in the rig
torso. The logic was simple: if the mech was serving as a sniper, it would
keep commandos from finding it; if the mech was serving as a front-line
fighter, it would give the mech time to get into position. A third ER Mediu
Laser was installed in the head to provide that much more all-purpose
firepower, while machine guns were installed to help it defend against
infantry and battle armor.

==Battle History:==
For a variety of reasons, the mech was still in the prototype stage when th
Jihad began. While under normal circumstances this would be an unacceptable
delay in taking a machine from the drawing board to the test facility, in t
case the delay may well have changed history by allowing Arc Royal to remai
free.

The Blakist invasion force hit the planet while the test star was conductin
maneuvers. Realizing that this was going to be a perfect chance for live-fi
"testing" of the machine, Star Commander Notiak led his warriors into the
middle of the fray.

Their first "mission" consisted of defending the test facility from a unit
light mechs that had been sent to secure it, the Blakist forces being unawa
at the time that an actual machine was being tested there. Not only did the
star snipe the Blakist mechs down from range, they also sniped down a caval
unit (armor and APC-mounted infantry) that was following behind them, likel
to serve as the garrison.

Realizing that there was now a legitimate threat to be had, the Blakist
commander was forced to break off a full company of mechs with armor, battl
armor, and conventional aircraft reinforcement in the hopes of rapidly
suppressing the new resistance. Unfortunately for the Blakists, however, th
VTOLs faired as poorly as the first wave of calavry, falling before the Wol
Fangs and their ER PPCs.

The Blakist mechs succeeded in diverting attention onto themselves and away
from the cavalry and infantry, but the operators of the fixed defensive
emplacements and the drone vehicles spotted them and moved to engage, takin
them out before they could do much to retaliate. This left the remaining me
and the battle armor to carry the fight.

Had the battle armor teams focused on disabling the defenses and drone
vehicles they might still have been able to capture the facility. Instead,
team decided to engage one of the Wolf Fangs while it was still in combat w
a Grim Reaper. The Clan rules of engagement thus being broken, the Reaper
almost immediately disappeared in a haze of combined ER PPC fire as the fiv
blasts reached out and detonated the mech's fusion engine. The pilots prove
quite adept at going back and forth between the surviving Blakist mechs and
the battle armor, with a mix of machine gun, laser, and PPC fire sweeping t
battle armor like a broom.

The remaining Blakist pilots were smart enough to attempt a mad rush for th
facility while the Wolf Fang pilots were busy with the battle armor, but by
this time a pair of Wolf aerospace fighters had arrived on-scene and began
strafing runs agaunst the Blakist threat. Caught between the remaining base
defenses, the Wolf Fangs, and now the fighters, the Blakist forces were soo
wiped out.

Upon witnessing the scene, Nokiat concluded that the Blakist commander had
likely committed reserves that he would not have committed otherwise,
potentially leaving a hole in his line. As soon as a star of Elementals and
their transports arrived to safeguard the facility, Nokiat took his star to
test his hypothesis. Sure enough, they soon found shockingly little standin
between them and one of the invasion force's dropships, a dropship that the
soon rendered into a large pile of scrap.

Now down a fair number of units and a full dropship, the Blakist commander
began a desperate effort to pull off soldiers to hunt down Nokiat's star.
Unfortunately, this left him further short-handed; some units now lacked th
strength to complete their objectives, while other forces were too mauled
after completing their initial objectives to continue without reinforcement
Within an afternoon, the Blakist forces had been brought to a halt and were
now on the defensive as Nokiat's star tore them apart from within and the
remaining Wolf, Kell Hound, and militia forces fought them from without.
Within a week, the Blakist commander had fallen on his sword and the Manei
Dominei operatives remained the only cohesive Blakist presence; the rest
survived just long enough to safeguard a handful of landing sites for a sec
wave of Blakist forces, a wave that should have been busy sweeping the
Periphery. Suffice to say that after the ARDC was completely liberated, St
Commander Nokiat rather promptly became Star Commander Nokiat Kerensky afte
standing nearly unopposed in his efforts to secure a blood name.
