The premise behind this one was simple: a minimalist upgrade of the original BJ-1 that kept the same basic flavor while seeking to improve upon its assorted shortcomings.
With double heat sinks now helping with the heat dissipation, the Blackjack can actually bring all of its medium lasers to bear in a close-quarters situation. Given that it's now got an ECM suite, however, that shouldn't happen all that often. And while the unit lacks CASE due to the ammo being in the center torso, if the mech is used properly then the OPFOR shouldn't get close enough to actually land a blow until after the ammo has already been expended.
