The Vedette's fluff mentioned a PPC wielding prototype and so here we go:

Code:
          BattleTech Vehicle Technical Readout
                      VALIDATED

Type/Model:    Vedette Medium Tank (PPC Prototype)
Tech:          Inner Sphere / 3025
Config:        Tracked Vehicle
Rules:         Level 1, Modified design

Mass:          50 tons
Power Plant:   200 Locom-Pack InterComBust I.C.E.
Cruise Speed:  43,2 km/h
Maximum Speed: 64,8 km/h
Armor Type:    ProtecTech 6 Standard
Armament:
  1 Magna Hellstar PPC
Manufacturer:  New Earth Trading Company
  Location:    New Earth
Communications System:  ComStar Rover
Targeting & Tracking System:  ComStar Test-1

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
The Vedette is one of the most common tanks throughout the Inner Sphere,
produced in countless numbers and used by virtually any major and minor
power.
Because the Vedette is so widely distributed a lot of people measure the
combat-worthiness of new military equipment in "Vedettes"!
But before the first Vedette, as we know it now, rolled off its production
line a multitude of prototypes and concepts were tested by NETC.
One of these carried a PPC!

==Capabilities:==
One of the first prototypes of the jet to be produced standard tank was
designed with firepower in mind. A turret-mounted Magna PPC delivered a strong punch at great ranges and without any concerns about ammo.
As one of the main specifications was to use an ICE to keep costs down, the
tank needed an amplifier and a massive heat dissipation system, that kept down mobility too.
The designers (understandably) didn't want to abandon heavy armor and so this prototype lacked backup weapons at all.
The evaluation of the three prototypes showed several flaws:
The PPC-Vedette had problems to keep up with other light tanks and more agile mechs, and was left behind in almost any test-battles.
With no short-range weapon at hand infantry and small, fast vehicles posed a
threat greater than expected.
Last but not least the heat sinks had trouble to vent all that heat away when
the PPC fired.

==Variants:==
Other prototypes carried a large and medium laser combination or a heavier
autocannon but all this machines were dropped because of their slow speed.

==Deployment==
The three prototypes met very different fates.
The first burned down in a live fire test as its heat sink system failed in a
spectacular way!
When serial production of the standard Vedette begun the second prototype was sold to a mercenary unit. Its whereabout is unknown.
The third machine was modified several times and became the predecessor of the Vedette as we know it.

I did something similar to this but I went with a fusion engine over the ICE to allow the PPC.

As Vedette fluff says:
wrote:
The designers did try other weapons such as lasers and PPCs, but these did not fit well on the Vedette's chassis and required heat sinks and power amplifiers, which the tank's size could not carry.

I went with the ICE for the prototype. A serial production type will use a fusion i think.
