Yeah, I like quad mechs.Yeah, the name is unoriginal. Yeah, I've never played the table top game and I am building this from Heavy Metal using only common sense and what knowledge of CBT I have gleaned from here, praying I did something right. That's okay though, I am not ashamed.

BattleMech Technical Readout

Type/Model: Tarantula Mk. II ZPH2-1A
Tech: Inner Sphere / 3067
Config: Quad BattleMech
Rules: Level 2, Standard design

Mass: 55 tons
Chassis: Endo Steel
Power Plant: 275 Core Tek Fusion
Walking Speed: 54.0 km/h
Maximum Speed: 86.4 km/h
Jump Jets: 5 Standard Jump Jets
Jump Capacity: 150 meters
Armor Type: Standard
Armament:
2 ER Large Lasers
Manufacturer: Corean Enterprises
Location: Stewart
Communications System: (Unknown)
Targeting & Tracking System: (Unknown)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
Corean Entreprises has previously developed the Tarantula, a jump-jet capable
reconnaissance light mech that was met with mixed reviews. Deciding, on a
gamble of course, that perhaps a quadrupedal medium weight battlemech might be
more favorably received, Corean Enterprises began R&D on the Tarantula Mk. II,
which was intended to serve as a general purpose medium battlemech. The shape
and styling of the original is even the same for the Mk. II.

==Capabilities:==
The only weapons aboard the Tarantula Mk II are a pair of Hellion X-III
Extended Range Large Lasers, mounted in the left and right torso much the same way that the original Tarantula mounted it's own lasers. However the Mk.
boasts no other weapons of any sort, being that Corean Enterprises believed
these ER lasers would be sufficient. It also allows the battlemech to function
for long periods of time without having to rearm, and the Mk. has adequate
double heat sinks to deal with the output from the lasers. The Mk. II has a
decent speed, and retains the jump jet capability of the original, though at a
reduced degree. Unlike the original, though, the Mk. II has an impressive
amount of armor, allowing it survivability on the battlefield.

==Battle History:==
Having only reached the stage of full production, the Tarantula Mk. II has yet
to see any significant action, and due to the fact that it is only offered on
a volunteer basis, like the original was, it may be some time before it sees
heavy action. Corean Enterprises remains silently hopeful, however.

If there weren't the JJs I would prefer Blakist Blue Flame to this... umm, the Flame may be modified. The loss of speed is too significant IMO, but this can last for quite some time before falling. A four-legged zombie.

Quite a nice mech. A full armored quad that can fight without worrying about ammo or heat. The range of the lasers and its limited firearc for them will make this a sniper though i think the JJ's negate that limit.

Kudos for the fluff.

Mixed feelings on the armament... seems a bit light, unless you have something special on it, like a BAP, or TAG.

somehow this feels a little... well yes, zombie like.

perhaps sacraficing a HS for C3 Slave, or Tag... might give this a better field edge.

Zombie like as in "ZOMG it's a Zombie! Let's run to the mall and hope we will be safe!" or zombie like as in "Hey, look at that slow Zombie. Let's throw sticks at it."?

Haha, either way is fine with me. I like quad mechs mostly because they are maligned by a lot of the CBT players I talk to. Maybe I just like them to be cool and rebellious. Anyway, I'll see about the Tag or BAP, maybe even continue up the ladder to a heavy design. I would've named it something else, but I couldn't think of a half-way decent spider name that isn't take.

More like: "Ammo, we need more ammo! Gods of the Inner Sphere, how can that thing still be able to move!?"

Quads are great... i've been able to play 3/2 (1.5x) weight with quads because they wanted things to shoot at... they got pissy when I was killing them off.

It's not quite in the spirit of the original, but hey I wanted a decent battlemech that could do something other than scout.
