Hours and Hours (READ: 30 seconds) spent pouring over countless Battletech books has led me to the conclusion that I really need to throw together at least a halfway explainable IS company.

So, having never actually chosen a house to pull from, I decided I would go with the Capellan Confederation. Interesting, no? So, for Clans I still have and always choose the Ghost Bears...and for the IS, Liao.

Why not the FRR? I'm not entirely sure why. Maybe thats too predictable? Besides, I like the Confederation. They seem fun.

So, right now I am looking to put together a company based in three parts. Most of the unit will consist of an ex-mercenary unit given state sponsorship. The rest will consist of some older regulars and at least one guy from St. Ives and another from the Chaos March. I'll have some sort of history for everybody. Etc.

Anyways. Victory for the State is Victory for The Good.

I would have picked FWL myself. But I guess that could be boring since they have probably seen the least amount of activity. Although it does offer you the possibilities of civil war battles.

No, just regular old Marik internal strife.

The FWL is a very fractious state, and various factions are always fighting various other factions. Almost a microcosm of the Inner Sphere...

Yes, something like Fire Mandrills (something more familiar to old Ghost Bear fan Wink )

Most FWL sub-states have their own units, goals , ...

The choice of St. Ives person for your unit may be interesting, since the St. Ives was known for two things - assault 'Mechs and hate for CC.

Yeah, the re-absorption of the St. Ives Compact left a sour taste in many mouths. The Company...due to its roughly thrown together makeup will definitely be interesting to write about. Though the St. Ives guy might never deploy with any of the CCAF guys in an actual small unit fight, it'll be fun anyways.

As for the FWL Civil War...i always expected it to happen. The thing was barely holding together in the best of times...

I don't think (and someone who knows more about the history can correct me) that it has ever truly blown up into a full fledged civil war. I think it has always been more skirmishes and that sort of stuff. But I could be wrong. Smile

It happened before even the 4th War. Anton Marik challenged his brother Janos for the throne. I should like to see a book devoted to it, actually. It's like a Level 1 FS/LC civil war in terms of scope and what not.

But with a grimier, less worky set of units.

EDIT: And this of course, depends on whether you consider the Andurien seccession fighting a "civil war". That happened after the 4th War. The Mariks are always blasting each other over something.
