The Tracker was developed by GM to support their Morningstar City Command Vehicle. Unlike the Morningstar the tracker is a child of Jihad, an eye was kept on simplicity and low cost, so the result is a strange marriage between the simplest possible chassis and top of the line electronics, making the tank useful and yet available to wide spectrum of costumers. The chassis itself is 30t six wheel car powered with simple GM 100 gas turbine and covered by seven tons of Duralex Standard armor. For armament was chosen one turret mounted Mydron light auocannon backed by two machine guns. this layout allows the Tracker to roughly match the performance of the old Vedette tanks on paved routes with almost half size of the chassis, an impressive feat for such a light vehicle. The core of the design however is pretty impressive set of electronics consisting of an active probe, C3 slave unit and Target Acquisition Gear, which also is the principal offensive weapon of the Tracker, because it allows the tank to call devastating artillery or missile strike on any target without having to fear that the surrounding buildings will receive excessive damage. There are rumors about turning the Tracker to remotely operated drone with Morningstar acting as a master unit, but such things are a music of far future since the Inner Sphere has something else to worry about now.
