     BattleTech Vehicle Technical Readout
                      VALIDATED

Type/Model:    Locust  LST-1
Tech:          Inner Sphere / 3025
Config:        V.T.O.L.
Rules:         Level 2, Standard design

Mass:          5 tons
Power Plant:   25 Various I.C.E.
Cruise Speed:  162.0 km/h
Maximum Speed: 248.4 km/h
Armor Type: Basic Metal Plate Standard
Armament:
  3 Rocket Launcher 10 (OS)s
Manufacturer:  Stormvanger Assemblies, Light Division
  Location:    Caph
Communications System:  Various
Targeting & Tracking System:  Various

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
The Locust is an anomally among light-end helicopters: an assault craft.

The unit is armed with three RL-10 pods; one pod is beneath each wing, while a third one is beneath the cockpit.

The name comes from a phenominon observed during field testing. When a
standard flight of Locusts was sent out (three LST-1s and an LST-2 of some
type), they could destroy almost any target with ease. Infantry, battle armor,
many light tanks, and fixed targets simply fell before the sheer amount of
firepower. Medium and heavy tanks would weather a few rockets before being
crippled or even destroyed by a rocket that managed to find its way into the
tank's internals.

The only targets that did not fall during the testing phase were mechs. While
the average light mech and many mediums simply could not withstand the
barrage, heavies and assaults were simply too robust; even then, however, they would still sustain significant damage without an anti-missile system to help provide a screen.

==Variants:==
The only variants of the Locust are the 2A and 2B. Both models sacrifice the
rocket pods for electronics. The 2A mounts an Active Probe for use in seeking
targets. The 2B mounts an ECM to help hide the flight.

Standard deployment is for three 1s to be supported by a 2. The presence of a
2A denotes a hunter-killer team, while the presence of a 2B denotes a tactical
strike team.

A third variant, known as the LST-3, has been proposed. It removes the
wing-mounted RL-10s and replaces them with an internally-mounted TAG system.

With swarm tactics this will be dangerous for sure!
It is even able to weather some return fire with that 6 armor points on its nose!

OK this was the version in mentioned in the other post. One problem, the name. It is wrong, just wrong. Call it the Stinger, or Wasp, or Junebug, but not the greatest design of all time. BLASPHAMEY

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
This was created as a civilian-use version of the Locust VTOL. Its high speed
made it perfect for rapidly deploying to the scene of an incident, and so it
was simply a matter of modifying the chassis accordingly.

The weapons were removed along with much of the armor protection. A sensor
unit was attatched to allow the pilot to search for the wounded, and a large
bay was attatched to make room for a patient, a paramedic, and some supplies.
The bay has additional room to allow for additional supplies to be carried; it
can also be used to lift additional wounded, but these wounded would have to
sit in a somewhat uncomfortable position.

Dont you dare reccommend a Stinger, By far the coolest looking light mech around. *may not be as good as a Locust but looks much much cooler, imo at least Laughing

OK does Sting as a name work better?

And yes the Stinger as a Manga cool look but the Firestarter or Panther just look like menacing Mechs.
