(head over to Classic BattleTech and read the BattleBLog)

First question for you Rick Raisley of HMP?

Were you involved at all in this? How long do you think it would take you to adjust to it? If you were not, that is dumb.

The Mordel Community,

I printed it and looked at it. Like the pic of the Mec. As a GM with many sheets will help reduce mistakes.

I can handle the move from left to right, but why?

Umm, where do you mark ammo? Next to it in the critical spaces area?

Heat is not such a big deal. Players will have to watch it like a hawk for awhile so they do not miss major milestones. Like they put the asterix, but not perfect.

Would have been cool if they used a different silhouette for each class Mech. Wasp for Light, P Hawk for Medium, T Bolt for Heavy, and B Master for Assault.

AWAD- Tomorrow I am off to Origins

Vee sheet with all the tables seems okay to me, but I'm not sure if the heat scale idea (separating the table) was good. Nice idea with mech picture, it would make orienting in the pile of RS a little easier.

Well, those who don't like the new layout can always use old sheet

They finally managed to put the left and right on the correct side of the picture?

I never understood the reason for the switch, and it wasn't a problem for me. Getting a "correct" record sheet is still a great victory for everyone who knows which hand is on which side.

edit: had a look at it, and the mech's front is still turned the wrong way. Why?

First, I would just like to point out that HMP has had the option to include a Mech picture on the RS when you print it out for quite some time. Of course, it is in liu of using a faction symbol on the sheet, but I much rather use the unit picture than a faction picture.

I sort of understand the Mech shift in the sense that, most people are right handed and usually most pencil work involved on the sheet is usually on the armor.

I agree in that I believe it would have been nice to have a different diagram for each class, but that's really just cosmetics.

The divorcing of the heat mods, while not a big problem, will likely take some getting use to.

While I believe it looks fairly good, I get the overall impression of it being far too cramped. Likely from their trying to make so much space just to fit a pretty picture into the middle of the page.

Yes, I was.

I intend to have the new sheet in HMPro6, which may be the next program after HMMap. I had planned major record sheet changes anyhow, for it.

That's where you've always been supposed to mark it. Otherwise, you don't know which bin has ammo used, and which don't, when that ammo crit comes along.

As Randall said, that was tried. It was very difficult to get them all to fit in the required space, look right, have enough room for armor dots, etc. Plus, it was felt that with /some/ different diagrams, people might be confused when they weren't /all/ changed to agree with the design.

Rick thanks for the updates. Gald to see WK and Fan Pro are using and informing all their resources of changes. I think I missed the part about different diagrams being a problem.

I agree with the bin marking issue but to often I have also seen people screw it up if they do not have a central spot to mark ammo.

Looking forward to the update. Will we have the option to print old style sheets with the update? Reason is the reams of stuff done in old style that will make it difficult to match with new in some cases.

AWAD- I will not reprint all those Mech Sheets

No reason to re-print them. The format is different, but the information is the same. Until BV2 comes out in the Tech Manual toward the end of the year, and my guess is they'll publish any BV changes, so you can hand-correct any sheets you already have.

As to having HMPro6 also print out the old sheets, that is a possibility, if there is enough demand for it, but the new sheets will certainly work fine right alongside the old ones, IMHO.
