30 ton artillery piece... Nice, very nice, that's going into my bag of tricks.

Ummmmm.....

"Houston we have a problem"....

Nightmare,

I like the idea but unless my pencil and paper calculator has failed me I totaled your variant at 31 tons.

Internal Structure 1.5
Engine 1
Gyro 1
Cockpit 3
Heat sinks 0
Armor 6

Total so far is 12.5

Arrow IV 16
Ammo 1
SL 0.5
Jump Jets 1

Total 31

Sacrifice 1 ton armor?

Are you quite sure you actually want to use it in a city? Collateral damage is going to be horrible.

You're going to take serious collateral damage anytime you have 'mechs rumbling in a city. I wouldn't worry about it and focus on designing something that will kill the enemy, so that even if my city is a steaming heap of rubble at the end of the day, it's my steaming heap of rubble!

Yes HMPro shows weapons and their ammo weight together, that would be those 16t.

I think there wouldn´t be collateral damage!
You can destroy your enemy before he can even look at the city you are in!

I have played the role of City Defender more than i care to remember. I have only been defeated in that role, 3 times; to invading clan forces, verses 3025 machines. they paid for the victory, but it was a victory.

Eh... stop pointing that PPC thing on me...

Experimental machine, but it's probably worth trying.

Nightmare, Rudel,

Right...15 tons! Oops..my apologies for the error and thanks for the correction.

Mud, is right it is MY steaming pile of rubble.

Ok...MRM variant would be nice too. CP can't produce it unfortunately.

Try this:

Type/Model: Urban Mech UM-R70-P
Mass: 30 tons

Equipment: Crits Mass
Int. Struct.: 58 pts Standard 0 3.00
Engine: Leenix 60 Fusion 6 1.50
Walking MP: 2
Running MP: 3
Jumping MP: 2
Heat Sinks: 10 Standard 10 0.00
Gyro: 4 1.00
Cockpit, Life Supt., Sensors: 5 3.00
Actuators: L: Sh+UA R: Sh+UA 12 0.00
Armor Factor: 104 pts Standard 0 6.00
(Armor Crit Loc: NA)

Internal Armor
Structure Value
Head: 3 9
Center Torso: 101 11
Center Torso (Rear): 8
L/R Side Torso: 7 8/8
L/R Side Torso (Rear): 4/4
L/R Arm: 5 10/10
L/R Leg: 7 12/12

Weapons and Equipment Loc Heat Ammo Crits Mass
--------------------------------------------------------
1 LRM-20 RA 6 0 5 10.00
2 Ammo LRM-20 RT 0 18 3 3.00
1 Medium Laser LT 3 1 1.00
1 Small Laser LT 1 1 0.50
2 Jump Jets CT 2 2 1.00

Significantly more range and punch.

Steel Scorpion,

I like the idea of the PPC, but still won't use level 3 stuff, nice surprise factor.

Rudel,

Your 2 Large laser version is nice too, like mine harder to surprise enemies with 2 large bore guns on the arm.

My initial success with this design was tremendous (as i´ve written!) but as soon as the next game i used this my friends got addopted to these tactics! So i was dealing some heavy damage but got rooted soon!

Capacitor? TC? Grenadelauncher to cover retreat? A REAL laser?
I´d never believed that there can be a (how do you call it?) ubermunch-Urbie!

I do not recall any unique and/or special weapons on the design. If you need a lesson in Garrison fulfillment, ask Motown Scrapper, Vagabond, or even Chihawk... they will all, i am sure, tell you that Defending a City with a unit that minimizes collateral damage is almost a requirement.

But if i need to explain the design so be it.

1.) PPC: Main weapon, used with the Capacitor when needed, yes it has a minimum range, however the TC (everyone seems to hate/loath) means that it's alot more likely to hit the Enemy instead of the Civilian population.

2.) Capacitor: used to boost the PPC when facing a larger force, either in numbers or tonnage.

3.) Granade Launcher: either to disperse riots (with tear gas cannisters), or to Frag infantry that stray to close, it is a must for Garrison units. It is mounted on a Turret, which for some reason is not on the TRO, giving the urbie coverage on all sides.

4.) Medium Laser: the secondary weapon used when things get close, or Heat requires it's use.

5.) Targeting Computer: Yes, its a little expensive, but on a cheap mech, it does make it more Desirable, especialy when your Population Demands it's protectors not destroy the city more than the invading force does.

6.) Jump Jets: These nifty things let you get around in tight spots, or to gain High ground. Again, a 'must have' in Urban warfare.

Oh, don´t get me wrong! I like this Urbie very much and i have no problem seeing the usefulness of it in a citydefense mission! (At least if you want to let the city survive your protection! )

That version has an ER-PPC and so is perfect for cityfights! And i like especially the TC and use it in many of my designs myself!

A perfect item for the Urbies fighting-style: Wait for the enemy with a loaded capacitor, blast him and jump to cover before he can properly react while loading your capacitor again!

Another useful item but sadly it can be used only once!

A good supplement to any weapon. The small laser was too useless even in a cityfight.

As i´ve said above i like TC´s. And i don´t think that they are so expensive: compare it to other electronics!

Right! An Urbie without JJ´s is a creeping bunker and would be shot to pieces soon!
