Actually I think the Enforcer is an excellent 'mech, even with its ammo problems.

Agree with my esteemed friend mud on the previous post. Enforcer's a good mech. I don't consider it over rated because I do not swear by it.
A great mech like the Phoenix Hawk is a great mech, but if you use it to try an penetrate a defensive line much like an assault mech, then it is that player that overrates the mech, and not the rest of us.

Rifleman? That is high on the list. Many players say the Zeus but I have done will with it. But honestly I love the Panther but it gets owned so many times. It is actually a difficult mech to run.
AWAD- Anything with an XL is overratted. Most do not gain much.

The Enforcer isn't a Charger or anything terrible; it can hold its own (for a short while, at least).
In my mind it is similar to, but worse than, the Vindicator. OK, but not great. The novels, fluff, and some players seem to set it up on a pedestal, equating FS success with the Enforcer. I'm sure some Davion players have a more realistic view of it's capabilities, but many consider it the best medium mech ever.

I think for 3025, its a toss up between the Atlas and the PHX.
The PHX is supposedly this phenominal machine that can do it all. Yeah, it can try. Theres some situations, though, where the mech is more of a hindrance than an asset. Espceially when its forced to jump often. That has a tendancy to nerf the heat scale, and neuter its biggest weapon.
The Atlas circa 3025 is purely for psychological shock value. Look at the weapons. An AC 20, good for close range ass-whuppins. SRMs, Okay, a nice back-up to the AC. Medium lasers, starting to wimp out, here. And ONE LRM 20. The biggest mech mounts a single ranged weapon, with one paltry ton of ammo.
In 3050, I belive that the Dire Wolf [Daishi] is possibly the most overrated clan mech. Yeah, its packing almost 50 tons of weapons. But its heat curve is too steep for the DHS. This mech litreally fights with half its weapons tied behind its back. Its also painfully slow, allowing lighter, quicker mechs to get in some juicy shots at its aft quarters.
3050 Inner Sphere mechs, I would be leaning towards the WLF mechs. Again, the heat curve is a bit steep, and the lack of jump jets means this thing is going to get snared in something. From the books and TROs, the hype would have this mech being the hottest thing since God invented the sunburn. Big fat hairry deal.

Actually Atlas has two tons of LRM ammo, but for ranged work it should obtain some friends.

How many people, not just here, but you have ever met have nothing but golden glory for their Phoenix Hawks? I have met 4+ here and have met 8+ across the map sheets. They love them and are willing to tell you all about how they rock and they can whoop arse and how if you can't then you aren't playing them right. Truthfully, I have met only 1 person whom I've played against that can fulfill that hype. No other mech I've seen gets that kind of windfall without the performance to back it up. Phoenix Hawks are a nice staple of scout/recon/raid lances. But when A major battle is underway I want them off the line and in a skirmishing role. Too many people tell me how they can whoop the butt off any other mech. I have blown up Phoenix Hawks of varying types with great gusto. The best one was with 2 UrbanMechs.
My list of mechs I love to blow up:
Phoenix Hawk
Panther
MadCat
Marauder
Awesome
Daishi
Shadow Hawks
Hollanders
These mechs I have found to be great fun to kill and greater fun to kill when piloted by someone who loves that machine beyond all others.

Yeah, I'm clearly using the Phoenix Hawk wrong. It's my personal favorite mech: for the OpFor.
Can't really think of any massively over-rated mechs. Never heard the PHawk so greatly praised. Maybe the Vulture/Mad Dog. I've never been very impressed with the mech's configurations, though I've had friends who played them religiously on Mechwarrior.
More or less the same story with the Atlas or the Awesome, but I don't think either of those has been too terribly hyped either.

I find that the Stone Rhino/Behemoth gets far too much hype for what it's worth. I find I have no problems dealing with it, despite what the local Clan players have to say about it. Another Clan mech along the same vein is the Timber Wolf/Mad Cat.
I can't think of any other mechs that haven't been covered, thoguh.

I agree. The Phoenix Hawk is definitely overrated. It is good in its heavy scout role but putting it in a frontl line lance for attacking is suicidal for this mech. There must be something wrong with it...the Taurian Concordat blew it off when they were obtaining designs for use in the defense force, and they successfully held off the Star League Army for 18 years.

Ok that makes three people who have said that the Phoenix Hawk is an Overrated Mech it is constantly used wrong.
If it doesn't work in a Assault role, that means it shouldn't be used in that role, but it doesn't mean that the P-Hawk is in fact over rated, but that the user is just plain STUPID!

I once met two players that deemed all Mechs not able to take a heavy or assault head on useless!  I proved them wrong with my lights and mediums! 
The two guys fielded only mechs at 65 tons +.
I played together with my cousin who has a knack for heavies and my heaviest mech was at 45 tons. They were very surprised to be beaten by some heavies and a bunch of "inferior and useless" Mechs!
