Other then for componet survivability, what good would CASE be with that XL? Pilots in 'Mechs without CASE leave their auto-eject on and thus survive.
However, your suggestion could easily be done but would require moving a ton of LRM Ammo to the RL, which I hate to do because of the RL technical difficulties of doing such a thing. The linkage would be horrible.
