The original Star Wars movie because it set the tone for what was to come.

All the sequels one way or another try to live to the expectations of the first.

1. Episode IV :
2. Episode III, Episode V (tie)
4. Episode VI
5. Episode II
6. Episode I

Actually I was refering to the fact that with adjusted inflation figures the movie that has grossed the most is ep 4. Yet almost every Star Wars fan I know (not just in this board) touts ep 5 as their favorite. Even when they were re-released in the 90's the original made more money. I just find it odd.

Why is it, that the movie that everyone says is their favorite is not the one that has grossed the most money?

Well look at it this way. The fastest selling and best selling album ever in the UK is Be Here Now by Oasis. Yet everyone rates it as thier worst album by far. Its all to do with expectations. Their last two were awesome so people rushed out for this one. At the time ep4 was just a phenomenom everyone heard it was good, and 52% of people saw it more than 2 times. It made Star Trek look like the muppets as far as visuals.

But to the important thing. Episode 5 was my vote. Its full of darkness, it made the rebels seem more... rebel like. The Empire was too easily defeated in Ep4. Ep5 made it seem like a massive struggle for survival. Not to mention the whole Vader Luke thing. (funny fact, Mark Hamil didnt know the plot twist until he was actually on set, so his reaction is real!)

But i also agree. Episode 3 was way and above my expectations, it just did the job perfectly. everything was dark even though Anakin's acting was a bit wooden in places.

My order, 5,3,6,4,2,1

That's funny, several people I know all agree. The kid they got to play Anakin in episodes 2 and 3 can act about as well as Bob Saget can. He shows no emotion really, You see hate and anger, but other than that it's like a plank of wood that talks. I know they wanted to stay with the original concept to use lesser know/unknown actors/actresses, but sheesh. Casting call!

I agree with Pin. That's my order as well. 4,5,6,3,2,1

HEY! HEY! HEY! THERE WILL BE NO DISSING OF THE MUPPETS ON MY WATCH (yes, at 31 I still love the muppets.)

As far as the movies go I think I have to agree with most everyone else ep 5 was my favorite, then 4, 3, 2, 1, 6 (yeah I hate the ewoks that much).

I just saw ep3 and although I liked it, I really thought that it should have been broken up further. There was so much that happened between ep2 and 3 that alot of the characters that were introduced (General Grievous for example) were gone before they were really explained. I guess I wish he had made a order more like this.

ep1
ep2
ep3
ep3a
ep3b
ep3c

And tied it in that way. After watching the clone wars cartoon there was really alot that was glossed over and left out. The wookies are another example. They could have left them out instead of making it only what 10 to 15 mins of of them. I was really expecting a massive battle and felt that they cut it down drastically.

So dont get me wrong I liked ep3 but really thought it could have been better, there was a lot there they could have expanded on and didnt.

watch the Clone Wars series (animated) which explains a lot of the events between EP2 and Ep3...for example, why General Grievous has a terrible cough...

check it out.

Yup I cought it here a while ago and, Well I guess it colored my expectations of ep3. A friend of mine and I were talking last night and he said that he almost prefered the animated series to the movie. And in all honesty I have to agree with him.

I still think that the best space battle of the series would be the one in ROTJ. I just love the point when the Rebel forces are doing emergency turns to keep from crushing themselves into the Death Star shield.
