The Calander is Gregorian??? I thought it was Julianic, seeing as is was Julius Ceasar who made the calander we us today official (but I doubt he invented it)

Anyway I missed Christmas so I wish you all a happy (western) new year!!!

Nope, the "common" calendar is Gregorian, after Pope Gregory.

Here's a pretty good explanation of it.

lol in other words, we're both right. Julius Ceasar implamented it and Pope Gregory remformed it, so from one point of veiw it's still julian but from another it's Gregorian. The truth really is a matter of point of veiw.

Anyway, I may not be on again until after the new year, so everyone have a happy new year...

P.S. Don't drink too much Egg Nog

And it all doesn't really matter anyway since due to calendar drift Jesus was actually born in January or February.

Jesus was probably born in the spring, if you read the account in the Bible there are young animals present, and most animals birth in the spring. The Christians celebrated His birth during the Roman's celebration of the winter soltace so they wouldn't be killed.

It's more likely that he was born at the begining of the year, around the 25 of March....

THat was before the the Ceasars, Juliyus and Augutus added new months named after themselves (July and August) or something to that effect. Those months are named for them.

Julius Ceasar changed the entire calender, and named the month of July after himself. His Nephew Octavian was awarded the name Augustus (Reveried one) and the month of August was later named after him.
