Wolverine WVR-8K vs. Shadowhawk SHD-5D
I have loved whoever started the Mech V Mech stuff we have on the board. A lot of it is classic Lvl 1 which I love but a lot of players like Lvl 2. So I have been using Lvl 2 in my games. But as a lover of the 3025 unseen, Project Phoenix Mechs are a godsend
So in a battle of old classics that have been upgraded, who would win? Does not matter the terrain, any would do, assume Veteran gunners.
Movement is the same and neither has heat issues, (WVR can heat up with some work) The SHD has a RAC-5 lighter armor, a little less range with secondary guns, but no XL engine. The WVR has the ERPPC, various lighter guns, XL engine and max armor.
AWAD- Great looking Minis also

In the games player V player and MegaMek it is close, as I knew it would be. The Wolverine has a slight advantage.
The times the SHD-5D wins is when it connects early and well with the RAC5. Then the XL engine of the WVR become a big liability. In longer protracted battles the SHD has ammo problems and the PPC just startes to take bigger chunks out of it. The Streaks on both of them seem to be the coup de grace weapon that kills off the oppeneant.
AWAD- Pair either with a GFR-6S and you have a lethal tag team

I believe I started them...but then again it's fun no matter what.
And on this one I am going to have to say it will depend on luck of draw since both mechs are almost equal.

I'd give the Wolverine a slight edge...if it can exploit its ER PPC's range advantage. At close range, the Shadow Hawk is going to tear it up with the RAC. Defensively, the Wolverine's extra armor balances out the XL engine.

Wolverine gets my vote. the ppc has the better range and the protection is far better. the shadowhawk has an advantage in close until the rac jams

It would depend on terrain and pilots. If the SHD manages to corner the WVR while it still has RAC ammo then it has an advantage, but the SHD pilot should use the RAC carefully, because he has only 40 rounds. If the WVR is able to stay out RACs range then SHD is in trouble, because it lacks long range weapon that would match the ER PPC. WVR has also an advantage in concentrated damage. If it's lucky then it needs only two hits to SHD's left torso to almost completely disarm it.
This in combination with this *points at the dragon on his uniform* makes my choice clear

Ran a test game against the megamek bot, and the Wolverine kicked my ass. The RAC jammed up every other round or so, so that pretty much knocked out my big gun.
Range wasn't such a big deal, but I did play on a map with a lot of woods and hills, so there were not too many open long range shots.
