BattleMech: Sentinel STN-4D
Rating: 2.50
Comment: A Sentinel that isn't a complete embarrasment! The upgraded armor and CASE were long overdue.

It's still not great, since it has low range and ammo capacity, but at least it can do enough damage to justify it's existence.

BattleMech: Nobori-nin (Huntsman) D
Rating: 2.00
Comment: Most of the other configurations are better than this. The main gun has mediocre range and ammo capacity- and heaven help this if it jams! The missiles are light backup, especially at range, and the small pulse is, as usual, not particularly useful. Damage is OK, but nothing to get excited about, even at close range.

Really, the ATM/Ultra AC combination takes up too much weight and depends too much on ammo.

BattleMech: Nobori-nin (Huntsman) H
Rating: 4.00
Comment: A true jack-of-all trades. The electronics make it valuable as a heavy scout or lead element in a star. It can snipe with ease or close for infighting, thanks to the TC. The all-energy loadout is great for campaigns and allows massive alpha strikes without the possibility of ammo explosions. Such a strike could easily destroy or cripple a much larger mech!

In all, this is a great design to take into an unknown situation. No matter what crops up, the Nobori-nin H is prepared.

BattleMech: Champion CHP-3P
Rating: 2.00
Comment: This mech will have trouble operating on it's own; it lacks reliable ranged firepower. The cannon is OK, but the range and ammo capacity are average (at best) and a jam leaves the mech with medium lasers.

On its own this will need to get pretty close to do it's work, but the armor is light and it carries an XL engine. As part of a network, it can stand off a bit and help out with iNARC, but shouldn't get too close itself.

It's not too bad, if teamed with a good spotter and some missile support mechs. Unfortunately, enemy ECM coverage will _really_ degrade its utility.

BattleMech: Quickdraw QKD-8K
Rating: 1.00
Comment: Crippled by single heat sinks. The ER lasers and MRM's should compliment each other, but can't really be used together. ER lasers are a very bad choice with single heat sinks. There's just too much heat bundled in weapons with similar range-brackets.

The speed, high for 3025, is no more than average for 3060. The armor is low for an infighter (its only role now that it has lost the LRM's). MRM's aren't very accurate and force the firer into AC-20 range to have any hope of hitting.

Poor armor, low range, and terrible heat dissipation. I'd almost prefer the QKD-4G.

BattleMech: Hell Hound HLH 1A1

Comment: The physical combat capabilities are impressive. The single heat sinks kill it. Using doubles would allow use of a standard IS (composite is an odd choice for a physical combat specialist) and more sinks or energy weapons.

It really needs more controllable heat production. I'd think long and hard about dropping the AMS. The heat output will fluctuate wildly- this cannot afford to slow down. Small or medium lasers would make 9 overheat easier to attain.

A good idea, that could be fearsome with a few changes, but will shut itself down every other turn in its present form.

BattleMech: Archangel ARC-1A
Rating: 2.00
Comment: The speed, armor, and less vulnerable light engine are nice and give the Mech a long lifespan. All weapons are energy based, eliminating problems with resupply and explosions.

Unfortunately, the weapons load looks like a 3025 Ostsol, complete with possible overheat. The hatchet is soaking up tonnage better used for ranged weaponry. Salvo fire can prevent overheating, but leave woefully weak offensive power. Alpha strikes slow the mech down, preventing use of the hatchet (and are still light on damage and not particularly long-ranged).

As it is, the design can be outgunned and outmaneuvered by most mediums.

BattleMech: Praetorian PRT-1A
Rating: 1.50
Comment: Light firepower for a 100 tonner, especially at long range. It also carries relatively light armor considering the XL engine and 5 tons of ammunition.

The same equipment and better armor could be mounted on a 95 ton chassis. Also, this is a Lvl 3 mech without any Lvl 3 goodies, putting it even farther behind the curve.

BattleMech: Canyon Beast CBST-0x3
Rating: 1.00
Comment: Slow and only carries one long-range weapon. Even at 6 hexes it's stuck with a large and two medium lasers- essentially the same as an old Phoenix Hawk. Sure they're ER and have a targeting computer, but this is 2/3 the speed of a P Hawk. At point blank range, it can deliver 28 points of damage- not overwhelming.

The compact engine is out of place here- there's plenty of space for a standard, and it desperately needs either improved speed or firepower

BattleMech: NightRaven Raven RVN-3NR
Rating: 1.00
Comment: A mech that can overheat by 6 _without firing a weapon_! It's speed and stealth capabilities should allow it to close or break off without any trouble. But that's about it. In order to use its probe, C3 link, or 4 ER lasers it must turn the armor off and get close to an enemy- which this cannot afford. If the extra electronic goodies were removed, this could downgrade to a regular XL and add a few more heat sinks. As it is: too much heat to fire the weapons with stealth on, too vulnerable to ever turn the stealth off.
