BattleMech: Bushwacker BSW-X1G
Rating: 3.00
Comment: I agree that a mech named "Bushwacker" should probably have originally been designed with an all-energy loadout. Unfortunately, I've become so used to Bushwackers mounting AC's, missiles, MG's, and etcetera that this variant seems a little strange.
This runs very cool (if used properly) and can fight at all ranges. It should do well, but not spectacular, in almost any situation.

BattleMech: Marauder MAD-6X
Rating: 2.00
Comment: I really want to like this one, but the firepower is really low. At range it averages less damage then the old 3025 dual PPC version- even accounting for overheat. By the time IS LBX-5's become available this Marauder will be outgunned by mechs 20-30 tons lighter.
So this couldn't be used in the same way as a traditional Marauder, but would be more useful as a beefed-up Jaegermech. I can see this supporting a group of harder hitting mechs by handling vehicles, aircraft, and helping finish off damaged mechs. Useful as a support machine for other vehicles, but fairly weak by itself.

BattleMech: Tornado TND-1A
Rating: 4.00
Comment: This is an impressive, versatile design that should be able to fight well at any range. The weapons are nicely layered, and capable of quite a punch. The JJ's can be a big help, and it carries plenty of ammo for the missile launcher (important if it comes up against heavy/assault mechs and needs to keep it's distance). It can't quite stand up to a Thunderbolt, but that's hardly a flaw for a medium mech.

BattleMech: Siege GZT-SGE-2R
Rating: 2.50
Comment: Reminds me somewhat of the Highlander, but without JJ's and with a certain weakness at close range. Plenty of armor and runs cool even with an engine hit. Unfortunately, it might find itself out-gunned by other assaults in 3060- at long or short range.

I think this mech would be vastly improved by replacing the PPC with an ER version- it can easily handle the heat, this would help cover the mech at point blank range, and the longer range meshes better with the LRM's and Gauss for long-range fighting (this mech's stated purpose).

BattleMech: WarBoar GZT-WB1
Rating: 3.00
Comment: Although this mech has several problems (notably short range, high heat, and light armor) none of them are insurmountable on a Lvl 1battlefield. The increased speed (and better firing arcs) over the Hunchback mean that this mech can operate in more open terrain, and it can get the drop on slower designs. Used aggressively, this design would be a brutal opponent.

BattleMech: Jenner JR7-K
Rating: 2.50
Comment: One of those 3050 minimalist upgrades, little diffrent from the original. Fluffwise it makes sense, the JR7-D assembly lines can pump these out with virtually no modification, and the CASE is a reasonable trade for a single point of armor.

Past 3050, this would need something more to make it competitive. DHS, full jump, more armor- something to compensate for the heavier/more accurate firepowr it will be facing..

BattleMech: Raven RVN-3L
Rating: 2.50
Comment: Those fancy electronics and XL engine could really use more protection, and its mission calls for mobility. The idea is good, but I'd prefer more armor and/or jump jets.

Losing that 11th heat sink would be a good way to get the tonnage, maybe even downgrading the weaponry. Merely average as is.

BattleMech: Dragonfly (Viper) B
Rating: 4.00
Comment: This is a killer for it's weight. The backup weapons are of minimal use against other mechs; this design shouldn't get close enough to use them often. Replacing the smalls with a medium pulse or 2 ER meds would have netted this a 5.

As it is, pilot would be well advised to retreat if he ever lost the ER PPC.

BattleMech: Night Gyr PRIME
Rating: 4.50
Comment: Nothing tricky about this one, just strong firepower at all ranges. Armor is good, jj's can make up for the slower movement (compared to other Clan heavies), and it has enough heat sinks for bracket fire or the occassional alpha strike.

This will do well in almost any situation against any opponent.

BattleMech: Night Gyr B
Rating: 1.50
Comment: Could be worse, but it could be a lot better, too. Long-range firepower is okay, and LB 2-X's make nice backup weapons for a sniper, but the ammo load is terrible: 12 shots per gauss! Needs more ammo, an energy weapon and somthing to cover minimum range.

Replacing one gauss rifle with an ER PPC (and some other goodies) would be a major improvement.
