Product: BattleTech Master Rules
Rating: 4.00
Comment: All the rules you need to know to be able to play, plus extra.
To be truthfull, all the rules you NEED to know are in a slim book from the box set, but this book adds a few dimentions to it. Unfortunately, as with most game books / instruction manuals, a rather boring read.
Still, essential for the game.

Product: BattleTech Tactical Handbook
Rating: 3.50
Comment: Good book for extra rules, except some don't work with the rest of the books. As have been mentioned, the vaunted LAM's make there appearence here.

Product: Maximum Tech
Rating: 3.50
Comment: THE level 3 handbook. This is what you want to use to add complexity to the game. Rules that cover almost any situation can be found here, or extrapolated using these as guidelines.
Howver, such rules DO slow the game down, and are stated in the book as such, so are to be used with caution.

Product: Luthien
Rating: 3.50
Comment: Good book, lots of history, and good missions. Uses all 3050 tech, with the exception of a few Clan 'mechs from 58.
Unfortunately, not all missions use CBT, some use ClanTroops, BattleSpace, AeroTech, and MW2. The last mission uses some odd version of BattleForce.
A good book just for the fluff, but decent missions included.

Product: Operation: Stiletto
Rating: 4.00
Comment: A solid campaing pack, using all CBT rules. An interesting point is that it open up a new avenue for roleplaying in the area of manufacturing companies hiring mercenaries to do battle.
Neat idea, cool book.

Product: Field Manual: ComStar
Rating: 4.50
Comment: Excellent book, tons of history and other fluff, and new equipment and mechs. Plus rules for the various units of ComStar, WoB, FRR, Nova Cats, and the SLDF.
The problem is the only MechWarrior RPG stuff is for 2nd ed.

Product: Technical Readout: 3050
Rating: 3.50
Comment: Good in that it has the backstory on the Clan technology, but I disliked how they did the fluff for the IS Mechs. The updated models I could understand just the one-paragraph approach, but the newer ones, like the Wolfhound, Axman, and Mauler, should have had the full bag.
Also good in that it gave us the upgraded IS Mechs.
