BattleMech: Baboon (Howler)
Rating: 0.50
Comment: Ecchh no.
Moderately fast with light (but not thin) armour.
But the 3 LRM 5s are a joke as a dedicated missile platform. For the same tonnage in weapons and ammo, you could have a ER PPC...
If you have to use it, try laying mines, even that is pretty stop-gap though.

BattleMech: Dart DRT-3S
Rating: 1.00
Comment: Good idea, poor implementation.

It's fast without using an XL engine.

But it's lightly armoured and the choice of weaponry is just outright crazy. THere are infantry units that can outrange the Dart...

BattleMech: Fire Falcon PRIME
Rating: 3.00
Comment: One of the better Clan light mechs out there, the Fire Falcon would be perfect if it had better armour.

As it is, its fast and has lots of pod space.

The prime has good range, good firepower and crit-seeking ability. It's also pretty accurate.

BattleMech: Fire Falcon A
Rating: 0.50
Comment: Normally one of the better Clan light mechs out there, this variant of the Fire Falcon compunds its armour problem with absolutely crappy weapons.

It's going to become so much paste on the floor becuase it won't be able to do enough damage before its armour gets melted away.

BattleMech: Fire Falcon C
Rating: 2.00
Comment: Able to toss out lots of missiles, lead and laser pulse, this config may look good on paper, but pales compared to the Prime version.

It lacks the stopping power it needs to overcome its armour and needs to get in closer to be effective as well.

It's murder to infantry though...

BattleMech: Fire Falcon D
Rating: 2.50
Comment: I expect to see this on an Inner Sphere Mech... not a Clan one.

On the other hand, this might be something a more liberal Clan StarCommander might use if her command is very missile heavy (and has at least one Arrow IV to support her).

I'm not too sure about those SRMs though.

BattleMech: Spitting Spider
Rating: 1.50
Comment: pffftt.... the only redeeming factors are th thick hide and the ER PPC that is tied into the targeting computer.

However, no true born would pilot this simply because it uses an Arrow IV.. its just not honourable.

The mech also tries to do too many things to be truly effective, it tries to be a artilley piece, long-range fire support and close in brawler.. and fails to do any of it well.

The targeting computer, while a strength is not used to its maximum advantage. The two ton computer can handle 10 tons of equipment, but only 6.5 are in use, and the ER SL is next to useless.

My take, no clan will ever build this. If they wanted artillery mechs, the Naga does a much better job (it carries TWO arrow IVs and move at a very healthy clip), for fire support in the same class, the Kraken is also far deadlier, and as a brawler.. you have Dire Wolfs and Kodiaks.

BattleMech: Cataphract CTF-8b
Rating: 4.00
Comment: Far better than the original version in 3050. This is an upgrade in every sense of the word.

It's reaonable tough, mobile and packs a nice punch.

It's not cheap, but it doesn't exactly cost an arm and a leg either.. just an arm.

BattleMech: Dasher (Fire Moth) A
Rating: 1.50
Comment: Never liked the dasher. Sure it's fast and well arhas lots of pod space med, but its armour is paper thin.

This variant is actually a decent scout mech but its weaponry is a joke. Heavy but ammo reliant. Guess it forces the scout to run whenever confronted

BattleMech: Dasher (Fire Moth) B
Rating: 1.00
Comment: Good for wiping out infantry hordes. Other than that.. it's hopeless.

It's weapon load is actually fairly heavy for a mech this size but the Dasher's thin armour makes it risky to even contemplate using it.
