Overview:
    A retrofit of the DRG-1G, this model was provided to various mercenary and raider groups on
    the outset of the Clan Invasions by the Federated Commonwealth and Draconis Combine. Spare
    DRG-1Gs were quickly retrofit to increase the armor using applique systems, and replace the
    LRM launcher with an SRM-6.

Deployment:
    Given to DMCS and FedCom raider units operating along Clan Space around June 3050, this
    retrofit variant quickly earned the nickname the 'Super Dragon' among LRRP teams and
    mercenary units. Extra armor was added to the design, giving the DRG-1X more staying power
    in an engagement, and allowing it to close the distance more effectively against Clan units.
    The rear armor was kept the same as the previous dragon to save time on retrofitting, while
    CASE was added to protect the ammo. To save weight, the rarely used rear facing medium laser
    was removed, while the central LRM-10 was replaced by an SRM-6. The design would prove
    popular enough that some periphery manufactures would create retrofit parts to also allow
    the DRG-1N and DRG-5N to be quickly modified to this standard, and it has proven an
    attractive purchase to mercenary units.
