Description: Thirty-one hours ago your lance commander ordered you into this position. Twenty-eight house ago you finished draping the thermal camo tarps over your 'Mech. And for the past 27 hours you've been sitting in your cockpit, systems on minimum power, waiting in the dark - waiting for the Clans.

Suddenly your thermal sensors detect multiple 'Mechs moving 100 meters directly ahead. Your fingers fly over the weapons controls, disengaging PPC field inhibitors, hot-loading LRMs... green board. A single pull of the trigger sends fiery missile plumes and white-hot plasma streaking through the air, and the night erupts in a lethal inferno...

The BattleTech Tactical Handbook is an advanced-rules supplement for the BattleTech game universe. The Handbook provides advanced rules and equipment that enable players to add new depth and intensity to their games. Guidelines for creating long-term campaigns and double-blind games, formulas for calculating the combat values of all BattleTech combat units, detailed descriptions of advanced weapon systems and more make the BattleTech Tactical Handbook a necessity for the serious BattleTech player.

Comment: Very solid collection of quick fire and easy to find rules. Especially the stuff on the actual weapons (ill be damned if i ever remember the exact things BAP and ECM effect!)

The other good stuff is the campaign rules. (this is like the oracle for campaign games!) and other interesting rules such as double blind (excellent to finally end a feud between two friends!)

Definatley worth getting. It might seem a bit thin and some people might be dissapointed at the lack of massive new material. But it combines all the useful stuff from other books and makes everything easy to access.

Comment: Good book for extra rules, except some don't work with the rest of the books. As have been mentioned, the vaunted LAM's make there appearence here.

Comment: my friend and i both got owes on Ebay and we r both pleased with it the last rules for the beloved LAMs plus the Mace Claw rules. i like to use the engine explosion rules in this one if i recall right maximum tech has it but it says you need a 12 for it to go while this one says an 8. i love to watch my opponents Mech going up in a huge fire ball...... down side no salvage. but i care you get a chance to hurt his allies if they'r too close. hee hee

Comment: Unfortunately, this book is out of print, but those of us who bought it fondly recall the new rules detailed inside. Hull-down, walking artillery, hot-loaded LRMS, and the ever-popular engine explosions (always a crowd pleaser). Also included are new weapon systems and exotic ordinance. Caseless Autocannons, ER LRMs, Magnetic Pulse Warheads, Angel ECM systems, and more. Plus new equipment for Mechwarrior characters. While not the most important book published, any player would enjoy this as an addition to their library of books.
