Its a new version of the flamer that is a cross between a ac and a flamer.

Here is the Fluff for it.

TriGlyce INC. is a manufacturerof chemicle compounds through out the innersphere for 400 years, they have also been a minor supplier of military flamer fuels since the fall of the star league. In an attempt to produce a new weapon they have created what they call the Dragonfire. The Dragonfire uses special munitions made entirely out of chemicl compounds that are highly flammable, The round is made of 3 sepearate compunds, the shell is made out of a Iron Oxide aluminum shell this comvers a Petrollium Jelly that is a special mix that burns at 3400 degrees for a short time. The shells are unique, given that they actually burn in flight giving the Dragonfire when fired the look of flaming balls. 4 shells are fired every time the trigger is pulled (resolve hits on the SRM4 missle chart) though damage is minor the heat caused by the shells hitting is significant.

Draonfire
6 tons
2 Crits
2xhit/ +3heat per hit
8 heat
Range 1-3 4-6 7-9

Anyway let me know what you think.

Sounds like better infernos to me but it's an interesting idea...

Essentially yeah. I didnt want something to powerful that should fit in the universe, and actually has a basis in chemistry, and could be feasable.

And I am working on a mech design that will feature it as a main weapon.

I don't get the 2xhit/+3 heat per unit reference. Please clarify.

Number of rounds per ton of ammo? Heat seems just a little bit high. Tonnage and crits don't seem bad, maybe 3 crits, maybe. Sounds decent so far.

Nice Fluff really gives it plausibility, but everything else makes you think it is a missile weapon. As others what is the 2xhit/ +3 heat per hit? 2 per missile damage and 3 heat per missile? Also ammo issues.

But how about making it really different.
Range like 1-4/5-8/9-12. Not as long as an AC/5 but more than SRM. Also a minimum of 2. Represents the chemical burning does not always get going in time.

But it is a little unstable on damage inflicted due to burn time. So roll on the LRM 5 chart for damage and then again for extra heat added to the Mech. And for kickers, +1 on crit roll if rolling for one. Heat is not cumulative if in the same location. Heat lasts 2 rounds.

I think this would give the illusion of firing bolts of magma across the battlefield. Really nice when you do not give a damn about collateral damage.

In old 3025 this could be fearsome but with so many cool Mechs does not seem viable.

AWAD- House Rules flamers still do 2 heat and 2 damage- Total Warfare still did not satisfy me

I agree with Karagin in that this sounds just like improved Inferno missiles. I would like to bring up the point though that if the projectile is burning in flight, that is less inflammible material that actually reaches the target. This was a problem with WWI flamethrowers; most of the substance projected from the flamethrower burned up before it reached the end of the stream of fire. But perhaps incindiary weapons have become more potent in 3050. But a flaming missle firing might have the same effect as a tracer round in that the enemy can see where it's coming from. But then again Battlemechs are hard to miss anyway... I guess the overriding question from a BattleTech point of view would be: does this weapons system offer significant improvement over inferno missile to justify replacement? With the plus 3 heat I would be inclined to agree, although the 8 heat the weapon causes is a concern. Perhaps a few trail runs is necessary?

Thank you Awad.

Doh! cant believe I forgot Ammo. I was thinking about 20 rounds a ton. Sorry about the clarity there, 2 xhit is just 2 points of damage and 3 points of Heat as the Gelatin center sticks to the mech and starts burning. So hits like a SRM round but has a hotter burn.

I see I also missed the part that is only burns for 2 rounds and is acumilative, At least this is what I was thinking because of all the cold running mechs out there. But on second thought that would be to nasty as I could see one person adding 6 of these to a mech and slagging a mech a turn, so that is out. I do think I like the. Man I like every other idea there as well.

Ok reworking it.

Dragonfire
6 Tons
2 Crits
Range 1-4/5-8/9-12 Min 2
Damage +2 per hit +3 per hit (Max 8 damage and 12 Heat)
+1 on all Crit rolls
Heat is not cumulative if in the same location

The core of the round is a flammible gellatin that after impact will then ignite and stick to the mech-vehicle and burn for 2 rounds. And after going off of Awad's advice the weapon has been upgraded a bit so it has better range now. With this one weapon I was really going for just a slightly different take on flamers and over time it eveloved from a standard highpressure flamethrower to a ammo weapon thats rounds ignigt in midair.

Honestely though mostly its a Terror weapon for the battlefield.
