It has been determined that we have 5 active players.

We need to determine how to condense.

What would happen if we ran kind of an extended company..

5 lances

Command - Classic command lance heavy mechs applied to special circumstances

Support - Medium mech lance that can move. It is deployed where needed and should have good all around mechs

Scouts - Light and medium mechs that all jump and can be used for scouting and hit/run attacks

Fire Support - LRM based lance

Heavy Lance - Heavy, tough mechs used in drawn out battles. Probably not may assaults, but mostly heavies...

Then have each person run his lance?

And this is why I gave an other option. I have no issue with doing an abnormal force. Only issue will be transport, funds, and a desire by players to run a lance.

I'd be fine running a lance. Gives you bigger stakes in the game!

I agree we should have 5 lances, but as for the makeup, I think it should be based upon what each person wants.

If you want to make up a way for each player to choose his own tonnages and mech varients based on a total tonnage, or you can roll for or have each player roll for his tonnages, etc...

But a lance each is mainly better because you have more of an influence in the outcome. One light mech with poor armament leaves for minimal influence on the overall outcome.

Would 5 lances take much longer to play out vs just 5 mechs?

I just got an idea. Mixed player lances.

We set up 3 lances of 5 mechs each (not clans so no stars) with each player running 3 units. This way if a lance is caught alone or not part of a mission, everyone has a unit to run (excluding combat losses).

Thoughts?

5 Lances of active players will take wayyyy less time than the 12 players we had that never responded... hint hint

We can do this if you prefer, but I kinda like having a whole lance in the same area to control, gives you more options and flexibility...

Only issue with this is that if a lance is sent out for a recon and engages the enemy, only that 1 player gets to play.

So each player would run 2 units in one of the "lances" and a single unit in the 3rd? That will work as well, I think. Might be a tad more difficult, but not overly.

I was thinking 1 unit per lance.

I am going to make a GM ruling here and split the tie with my idea.

We will stay at 5 players for now.

We will expand (try to expand) the company to 3 reinforced lances of 5 mechs each. 3x5=15.

Each player will then be given control of 1 mech in each lance for a total responsibility of 3 mechs.

This means that in many situations each of you will have 1 or 2 mechs to control.
