I would take 7 soldiers per slot as this is the „standard“ size for a squad.
Or 10, that would be the maximum squad size. _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!' A vehicle holding more than 10 folks is asking for trouble as far as an APC goes.
Battletech has not yet, wait NEVER, figured out what makes up that 1 ton of weight for non-battleamrmored troopers.
I go with the idea that if the APC has an infantry bay then you can fit a squad or section in it along with their weapons and gear. The gear being all the extra stuff like rucksacks and sleeping bags and water and food and extra ammo etc... _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

Well, BT has made the vehicles around the usual unit size rather than practical parameters. Also the infantry in the game is much more expendable. Not 40K-like, but still significantly less important than IRL. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

Is that in the rules? I can't find anything that says the bay is set to take a single platoon. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

No more then the design rules themselves; Guys will sometimes think out loud about how the Hvy Armored Trasports, for example, shouldn't fit in one hex without being some kind'a double-decker bus.
Then, you tinker with the quirks, and/ or contemplate what "hovercraft" really means to internal volume … And finally remember "it's just a game." _________________ Goose

It's not, but the canon vehicles are all made that way. They usually have a 3 or 4 ton infantry compartment to take a foot platoon or jump platoon. Aside from the standard APCs most vehicles follow that pattern. As for the size of non-standard infantry compartments the weight has been set in the TechManual, p. 155. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!
