Fluff: With help from Comstar, the Drakken and the
Shrikebat represent the Free Rasalhaugue Republic’s
first attempt at any sort of aerospace production
since before the Clan Invasion. Although in some
ways similar to the Shrikebat, the Drakken (named
after an ancient Terran superiority aircraft) is
intended for use as a space superiority ship.
Although its weapons have limited range in
comparison to other dropships, the firepower alone
for its small size is enough to make anyone think
twice- 42 points of damage minimum will be
recieved by anything under its crosshairs if all
weapons hit, enough to wholly destroy even larger
aerospace fighters and severly damage certain
dropships. To back up its arsenal, there is room for 6
aerospace fighters, more than plenty for most any
job. What is curious, however, is the crew
compliment- there is room for an extra officer.
However, the official reason is to help reduce
quarrles over chain of command. The ship’s crew
load is set up so that, while on normal patrol status,
the crew can work in shifts- one officer with five
crew per six hour shift, while two pilots each pull
eight hours duty. As a result, it was a decided that a
fifth officer was needed to act as the commanding
officer for the ship as a whole. What is most
interesting, however, is its heat dissipation. It can
fire every single weapon in its arsenal all at once and
still not build up heat- between this and the
distribution of the weapons, it is believed that the
Drakken was designed to wade into firefights and if
needs be take on all comers. (Note: That the FRR,
even with Comstar’s presence, is showing such a
mentality yet again suggests that the fire and spirit
is returning quickly to the eyes of the citizens,
especially with Mansdotter’s election as First Lord.
It is quite possible that within the space of only a few
years, we may even see worlds return to FRR hands
from the Falcons, Wolves, or maybe even have some
carved out from the Lyran Alliance. If so, this small
nation-state may yet again return to prominence in
the Inner Sphere; either way, this suggests that
interesting times are ahead for the nation.)
