I'd assumed this would require an XL, and I'd wanted it to go faster, but the Sprite of Cray compels you! Mad

Any working concept of convoy speed is kaput; Hover artillery needs tons of disposable camo nets, even when onboard a DropShip; Command needs to get used to ether losing their big guns for tens of minutes, as they reposition and reconceal, or else losing them for all time; Then, this guy has crap for ammo endurance …

But this model has the de rigueur Nissan 125, and even so little standardization counts for a lot. Wink

You could get a Sniper in place of the Thumper and still get a bit faster speed. A bit more armor and a fusion and no need for the XL. Even can have the LAMs. All for a mere jump to 50 tons for the chassis.

I think I rejected a version of one of these with about .8 tons of armor; Not having the AMS in a turret seems destined to make me feel bad for the crews …

The thing with AMS is that you need it mainly to get rid of the SRMs. If this thing (no turret, great speed and only an arty gun) gets unescorted in SRM range it's already screwed. It gets a hover tank escort and if observed it fires up the engine and clears the field immediately. Don't forget that those bastards that can actually catch up with you are far more likely to also pack pulse lasers and an occasional PPC.
